OK, so what did we learn today: gnu is a lovely writer, VT is in the UK, and I need to start one of these about every 8 hours. Right?

*BG*

Good morning, whenever you are. It's warming up here... so it can snow.

Ya know in all of the time PeterT and I did the thought for the day threads, I don't remember once when someone groused about us being behind according to their time. That's a pleasant thing to remember, imo.

We followed my plan for the morning, for once, and my house smells and looks nice and clean! Stripped the bed, did/doing laundry of linen and clothes, picked up and put away a bunch of stuff, after breakfast. Then Rog swept and vacuumed and I mopped. I also gave the filthy dog a bath, which had to be followed by scrubbing out the bathtub, and changed his bedding on his end of the sofa! So, we're all bright and shiny as is the Colorado sun, though it is still cold outside.

Winter Spawned a freeze,
While Tris did his very best.
Thaw came slowly home.

Last night, I left the heat on in the house at about 16C (usually about 13C) and this AM, I stayed in bed an extra hour and a bit. It was warmer in the house than usual, but I could HEAR the cold. Walls and roof trusses banging every now and then. The Venmar (roof mounted turbine ventilator) bearings groaning as the turbine spun slowly. The teeth of the Ki-Ki Birds chattering.

Then, I heard the mailbox. The newspaper! With my eyes still closed, I got in starting position, stretched that that satisfying first stretch of the morning, and formulated my plan. Covers one way, me the other. Sweatpants, sweater, slippers, pee, parka and boots, deep breath, outside and down the steps, across the driveway, grab Mum's newspaper out of her mailbox, get keys... get keys... SHIT!... back to my house for keys, back to Mum's, deliver paper to her, back to my house, deep breathsss, pee again (-30C will do that), tea... tea... tea... tea pee.

But, no tornadoes, no helicoptors, no snipers... not even a skeeter. Life is good, despite winter.

And, tomorrow, it's gonna warm up... so it can snow.

Bite me.

Over 24 hours without water and just now going above the zero line. Pipes are fixed now at about a half hour ago for ONLY $250.......Tris was conserving water as they told him to do in school and shut it off in the middle of the night (Thursday night). Combined with a previously unnoticed open vent under the front porch.........frozen solid!

Both kids are showing signs of upper respiratory infections so I figure a doctor's trip may be in the cards. I was supposed to "give away the bride" at the wedding of a previous foster daughter and had to beg off because of the house water problem. She sounded soooo sad and I feel bad but whatcha' gonna' do?

The weather is getting up to 25 or so today so I have to go get into some shorts and a t-shirt............

Kiss my ass,

Spaw

Up at 3am, out the door at 4:15 and at work for 5am ( must be crazy!!) I came in an hour earlier than usual so I can get a jump start on my weekend which involves a trip to CT to visit friends. Best part is, someone else is driving! :-)

My morning by senses:

* I see the love of my life sitting across the table from me with sunshine streaming in the window, of which there is a cat napping.

* I hear the fire roaring in the woodstove and the jingle of dog tags as they dogs play in the other room.

* I taste weekend coffee, this morning's flavor would be Gingerbread, YUM!

* I smell cinnamon as a pot of water simmers on the woodstove with a few snapped sticks of cinnamon.

* I feel rested and happy after a night out with my fellow yogarians.

* I am anticipating a day of puttering around the house, reading for a bit and having some popcorn...which really means, getting some things done around here, hanging out and relaxing later and enjoying the day with my husband. :)

Sunlight dances in
Cinnamon tickles my nose
Coffee warms us both

Morning started frigid and bright. My cat let me sleep until almost 8am. Light but steady snow started about 10am. We're supposed to get three to five inches of snow today. I'm just going to hunker down for one more day. No snow in the forecast for next week, thank goodness. Just a hint of cabin-fever setting in.

Bright sun, blue skies, no degrees F. Tried out the new toaster oven. Brought in wood. Preparing to bring in lots more wood and head to the afternoon session at the Press Room.

Well it is no longer morning here in UK. But I slept in (lovely codeine induced sleep of the terminally in pain) until the wind pelted rain like machine gun fire agianst bedroom window. Jumped up went shopping a the evil Tesco because Sainsbury doesn't stock some wanted items.

I found Bisquick!!!! Brilliant. Come out of Tesco and the sky was blue on one side of car park and grey brown on the other. Like a split down the middle.

I made salad dressing for my breakfast of leaves.. Helmann's light mayonaise, fresh lime juice, dill and tiny bit of set blossom honey.   Yummy.

Mudcatted and searched reviews of guitars on line. I am in the market for a cheap and easy to play small body acoustic steel string.

Now it is cloudy again and still windy. Oh I forgot laundry and bed linen changing has gone on in between things today and listening to Odetta and Eric Bogel CDs.

It has been a good day. So much better than 15th and 16th.

Blue skies, fluffy clouds, an inversion in the valley, 10+ hours sleep, and a breakfast to cook before the cleaning lady comes.

In This Mudcat Morning Jan 15 '09, Catters were invited to post a b rief snapshot of your morning-- your MudMorning-- i.e., whatcha doin' while Mudcatting. Particularly, what are your 5+ senses experiencing?

I see zero traffic outside the sun-blastedly-bright window, as people in the northeast mountains stay home to keep their pipes from freezing, or unfreeze them.

I hear no neighbor dog begging to come in out of the cold-- he either mercifully froze last night or has been brought in to beg another day (yes we're working with the neighbors on this issue).

I smell nothing, having a plugged up nose.

I feel cold but no drafts on my skin (it's up to a tasty 65 degrees), under more layers of fleece and cotton that I can list.

I taste morning mouth, eeew, but it's too cold in the kitchen (60) for brushing teeth just yet. Next I will taste leftover fish and tartar sauce in the sandwich that awaits.

I appreciate the MudPortal being back open (thanks Max), so we can carry on this new tradition. I'm thinking about sharing an alternate view on the B/W Gospel thread... it's gonna make trubble I bet and I am reluctant.

I'm anticpating a warmer day tomorrow to load the van for the upcoming H'burg trip and I will do the indoor packing today, incldiung the notebook Dan sent. It's loaded with all the files I and directions I didn't have to print that I will need in my many appoinmtments and meetings.

I'm getting ready to check on friends and see how they're dealing with the cold.

You? Your MudMorning sensory experience? Haiku and limericks welcome.

~Susan
