Subject: RE: BS: the weee charge From: MartinRyan Date: 10 Feb 09 - 07:33 AM They're being charged a second time for bringing the goods other than to the retailer. In effect, they're being charged for convenience. There's a lot of it about! Regards |

Subject: RE: BS: the weee charge From: The Sandman Date: 10 Feb 09 - 07:08 AM yes,it applies to all recycling . although bottle banks in Ballydehob are still free. The result of this will be more illegal dumping. but the consumer pays a retail price for electrical goods, does this price include the weee tax?.,if it does cork consumers are being charged twice . |

Subject: RE: BS: the weee charge From: MartinRyan Date: 10 Feb 09 - 05:19 AM The WEEE charge was intended to finance recycling by retailers and delaers - they have to accept goods in exchange when selling. The local charge sounds like Cork County Council's idea. I assume it applies to all recycling - not just electricals? Regards |

Subject: BS: the weee charge From: The Sandman Date: 09 Feb 09 - 03:18 PM the Irish Government has this week introduced a charge for anyone to recycle at their dump, between Ballydehob and Schull.this means they now charge people to recycle electrical goods. however, there was already in existence a charge on electrical goods called the weee charge. so now the consumer is being charged twice,as a recycler can not enter the dump, without paying 3 euros at the barrier. mean while the Irish government has wasted millions on redundant electronic voting machines, that is costing them thousands to keep in storage, the verys ame givernment wasted thousands ,on Berties bowl, an unfinished sports stadium.Idoubt the legality of charging consumers for recycling electrical goods twice |
