Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: Sookite Date: 31 Jul 09 - 11:52 AM I realized after posting lyrics for "Nothing Was Delivered" that there were some glaring errors....Here's what I believe to be the correct lyrics.... Nothing Was Delivered Nothing was delivered And I tell this truth to you, Not out of spite or anger But simply because it's true. Now, I hope you won't object to this, Giving back all of what you owe, The fewer words you have to waste on this, The sooner you can go. Nothing is better, nothing is best, Take heed of this and get plenty of rest. Nothing was delivered But I can't say I sympathize With what your fate is going to be, Yes, for telling all those lies. Now you must provide some answers For what you sell has not been received, And the sooner you come up with them, The sooner you can leave. Nothing is better, nothing is best, Take heed of this and get plenty rest. (Now you know) Nothing was delivered And it's up to you to say Just what you had in mind When you made ev'rybody pay. No, nothing was delivered, Yes, 'n' someone must explain That as long as it takes to do this Then that's how long that you'll remain. Nothing is better, nothing is best, Take heed of this and get plenty rest. DG |

Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: Little Hawk Date: 30 Jul 09 - 01:28 PM The great Japanese Reisen (Zero fighter) was called the Navy type "Zero" fighter because its design was completed in the year ending in zero on the Japanese calendar. Had the design been completed in the following year, for example, it would have been the Navy type 1 fighter instead. It was the by far best naval fighter of its day, and possibly the best fighter, period, as of December '41 and through till late '42. Its superiority over the Allied aircraft ended when more powerful American fighters like the Grumman Hellcat and the Vought Corsair were introduced in the Pacific theatre. I've always wondered if the phrase "to zero in on something" derived from the deadly activities of that plane in the early years of the war in the Pacific. |

Subject: RE: BS: Much overdue about nothing From: Severn Date: 26 Jul 09 - 02:57 PM Did Horton just hear a "Who?"..... (Cue in Tex Ritter) "Do-nut fore-sake me, O mah darlin'..... " A donut IS something. It's merely usually in the SHAPE of a nothing. However, back when I could eat them, I preferred the filled ones.... I always figured that at work, when your bosses bought you donuts, they always tended yo by the ones with powdered sugar, sprinkles or coconut so they could follow your trail and ferret out your secret hiding places..... Or as the old graffitti/school yearbook signing passage went: "As you wander off through life, Whatever may be your goal, Keep your eye upon the doughnut, And not upon the hole." If not, I guess you just: Keep your hand upon the throttle and your eye upon the rail or: Keep your hand upon the dollar and your eye upon the scale. or even: Take your hand off the penny, leave it on the rail, then put your ear to the rail to hear if the train's coming, see that the (sub)urban legend that it would derail the train was false and pocket the squashed-flat penny as a keepsake. Whatever works....... |
Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: Little Hawk Date: 26 Jul 09 - 02:44 PM It's Canada's most common and ubiquitous donut shop chain. They're everywhere. You can't throw a stone in this town without hitting one. I think they are putting small amounts of heroin in the coffee. Something like that. They basically sell caffiene and sugar with small amounts of other stuff added for flavour. |

Heck, they might even be the same birds that hovered over my prostrate body when I was stranded in the Mohavee/Moheve/Mohjave Sahara Desert. It was just after the uh--so wtf are they doing in Montreal? The nearest Tim Horton's is at least a three days walk from here--OK, maybe a half hour, but in this driving sandstorm it would SEEM like days--just to get nothing surrounded by dough. |

(yet.....Lyric add.....) \ Now, too much of nothing Can make a man feel ill at ease. One man's temper might rise While another man's temper might freeze. In the day of confession We cannot mock a soul. Oh, when there's too much of nothing, No one has control. Say hello to Valerie Say hello to Vivian Send them all my salary On the waters of oblivion Too much of nothing Can make a man abuse a king. He can walk the streets and boast like most But he wouldn't know a thing. Now, it's all been done before, It's all been written in the book, But when there's too much of nothing, Nobody should look. Say hello to Valerie Say hello to Vivian Send them all my salary On the waters of oblivion Too much of nothing Can turn a man into a liar, It can cause one man to sleep on nails And another man to eat fire. Ev'rybody's doin' somethin', I heard it in a dream, But when there's too much of nothing, It just makes a fella mean. Say hello to Valerie Say hello to Vivian Send them all my salary On the waters of oblivion there is a you tube video of Peter Paul and Mary singing it.... now, that would be something, wouldn't it?
