This thing with Mel, as you mentioned in your first post, will be the subject of scrutinization until he finally comes out and says why he gave it up. THEN, the speculation will start followed closely by quotations from Nostradamus proving it just HAD to happen.

Actually, I think he would have lost no matter what he did, but the economic collapse sealed it. History will probably determine if that was engineered or not.

            And I'm registered "GREEN."

            But I'll have to admit, I'm puzzled as to what is driving Mel Martinez. And now Charlie Crisp is saying he will not appoint himself to serve out the term. Weird, I'd say.

I'm sure I made it clear a long time ago that I register "independent".

Also spent my first 32 voting years as registered as a Democrat.

McCain lost in 2008 because self-identified conservatives had, shall we say, very little enthusiasm for him.
