Crow Sister, thank you for that video.

Pixel Junk Inc puts out a Japanese game EDEN which is much like the that terraforming garden. It was featured on npr once.

A game called Little Big Planet gives tools to build scenes of semi 3D games invented by all the users. The users have made over a million games now and I have to admit some of them are surreal in a way I have never seen before in my life.
The narrator for Hitch Hikers guide to the Galaxy does the instruction portion of this game/software and it is entirely amusing.

I suppose real life games are getting more sophisticated as well.

I look at Google Maps and see them like a game. So someone has now turned Google Maps into a game called THE LAST GUY. Silly PRemise but 9 of our Planet's cities are the game board.

There are several on the hand-helds (the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP). Not my sort of game, so I can't think of any particular titles off the top of my head. They're considered "casual games", along with word games and puzzle games. If you're interested, PM me and I can do some digging around and come up with some titles for you.

That reminds me of a music video: Terraforming with Hypnotic Flowers

Using SIXAXIS steering by simply pointing the controler there are a number of non games that are mostly experiential.

I just finished 'Flower' which is a spectacle of beauty and new age music that you change and add to by just steering into different flowers. You press only one button if you want to and that button is the wind. At times I felt like the wind or a hummingbird as the lush colors and sceneries rushed by.

This "game" was so entertaining in its unique way that even the ending credits are interactive and gorgeous.

Linger in the Shadows is a similar concept in the making but on the Gothic side.

I am wondering what else is out there that is also lightyears away from the old shooter games.
