A college friend of my wife's in the 1960s did actually marry a man who was All-Britain tiddlywinks champion and led Cambridge University to victory against Oxford three years running*. It is a very skilful game, in fact. I think the ill-placed scorn it attracts is to do with its silly name (wonder who invented that); and far too redolent of the ill-thinking and ill-thought attitude of many who should know better about the Morris.

I LOVE Tiddlywinks! My grandma used to play them with me. Morgan and I play them, now. She also played Chinese Checkers with me. I found a vintage board in its original box years ago at a tag sale back East. Morgan and I get out my tin of marbles and have a blast with it, as well.

Jacks! My sisters and I LOVED playing Jacks, too!

I'm not sure if I ever played it, but it seems likely that I would have at some point. what are those other weird things with the little metal legs? Jacks?

That brings back memories.... well, a few.... I have actually played tiddly winks when I was a kid. It must have been before my brother & I got a ping-pong table.

Actually, the game seems to have gone a bit wimpy. When I was a kid, we used to do that with manhole covers. . . .
