Subject: RE: BS: 'Weekly World News' indexed by Google From: mousethief Date: 12 Jun 10 - 02:47 AM BAT BOY! I read a great article in WWN some years back about a pie bake-off contest that was won by Satan, because he threatened to steal the judges' immortal souls. His pie filling consisted entirely of hot peppers. The runner-up, an ordinary looking woman with an ordinary looking pie, complained about his unfair tactics. |

Subject: RE: BS: 'Weekly World News' indexed by Google From: Ebbie Date: 11 Jun 10 - 10:17 PM I thought I'd heard that Weekly World News had gone out of business. I'll have to tell Buddy Tabor, a musician friend, who wrote a song about having his wife go missing and having her show up on the cover of Weekly World News posing with Sasquatch. He sees it while standing in the grocery checkout line and he is so embarrassed. He'll be happy to hear that the tabloid is alive and well. |

Subject: BS: 'Weekly World News' indexed by Google From: Jim Dixon Date: 11 Jun 10 - 08:34 PM The Weekly World News, "The world's only reliable newspaper," is indexed and viewable online at Google Books. Accessible issues go back to at least 1980, and the last issue seems to be August 20, 2007, which seems to be a "best of" issue. Some articles: "Spacefaring Hillbillies Established 'Cletus Base'" "Unheralded find in the Kentucky foothills: THE BOWIE FORK" "WOMAN GIVES BIRTH TO BABY CLOWNS!" "ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE! Earthquake Allows History's Worst Villains to Escape" "OSAMA CAPTURED IN OZARKS" What wonders can you find? To search all the available issues of WWN, click the link above, then look for the search box that says "Search in this magazine." Type your search terms, click the box below it that says "Search all issues" and click "Go." |
