They will come to your door and try to get you to sign over your gas or hydro account to them, and they will pretend they're saving you money. They will even try to give you the impression they're coming from your present provider with a better deal for your account. They will ask to see your last bill and see how they can save you money by putting you on a lower fixed rate. They lie! Their fixed rate will cost you far more than what you presently pay.
