Emmy Lou Harris recorded it with the Nash Ramblers on the "Live at the Ryman" she did it as a medley with "Abraham Martin & John" You shouldn"t have too much trouble finding it. I always had a hard time getting the words from Emmy's singing

'Tis a decent song. There is a sample from Nanci's CD entitled "Storm" on Amazon.com.

Oh, you can tell the folk police in Oz that many an American considers Nanci a "folk singer" despite her Texas twang and writing her own songs. Of those who inspire her work, more are considered folk singers than are considered country artists.

I once would have said, "If it's in the DT it must be folk." Since the thread on Patches I withdraw that comment.

Hi,

I know... it's a country song, it's by Nancy Griffith, and you can find it at Lyrics at Cowpie.

Heard it done at a folk club at the weekend, and it mentions Belfast in the first verse, (hence my interest)... chorus has a line about "If you poison your kid's minds with hatred it's a hard life wherever you go". (or something along those lines anyway)

anyone got a tune? or a recording you could Mediaring?
