Subject: RE: BS: Deer with Head Lights From: GUEST,999 Date: 24 Nov 10 - 12:53 PM Where do they plug em in. Janie, I know lots of people who hunt for their food. It`s not a game to them. It`s the difference between getting real hungry or not. To quote Jesse Winchester, ``I`ll tell you one thing, Jack--you listen when your stomach speaks.`` That to say I liked your post. |

Subject: RE: BS: Deer with Head Lights From: Janie Date: 23 Nov 10 - 11:55 PM White-tailed deer apparently love "civilization." Somewhere I have read the white-tailed deer population is much larger than it was when the first Europeans landed on our Atlantic shores. I remember when there was no doe season, and one buck per regular gun season was the legal limit. Gun season usually ran for about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks, starting Thanksgiving weekend. This year, the bag limit for bucks during the regular gun season is 5. The season opened last week and will run until the end of December. Good thing. These days, I work with more and more families for whom that deer meat in freezer represents food for the year they otherwise would be without. Hunters in my area who are prosperous and knowledgeable of the circumstances of folks in their communities are also very good about showing up at a distressed family's home with a butchered deer, ready to be packed into the freezer. Makes a real difference. |

Subject: RE: BS: Deer with Head Lights From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Nov 10 - 12:41 AM Well, I suppose it is better for deer to have head lights than to have head lice. I'll get my coat. . . |

Subject: BS: Deer with Head Lights From: open mike Date: 23 Nov 10 - 12:03 AM You've heard of a deer in the head lights? Well, here is a deer with lights on his head...several of them, actually. I just saw a message on facebook by a girl in southern Calif. who saw a deer in her back yard tonite with christmas lights in his antlers. Apparently it is a common occurance, and usually no one does anything about it, unless the lights are wrapped around their neck or mouth. Authorities are warning people to be cautious about putting lights on trees or bushes where deer can reach. They are better if put in higher places, to avoid this problem. http://www.kdvr.com/news/kdvr-deer-lights-121409,0,5384054.story http://videosift.com/video/Deer-decorates-its-antlers-with-Christmas-lights http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuQssQDidxU http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/80854272/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/13/deer-with-christmas-light_n_390438.html http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/dpp/video/deer-antlers-christmas-lights-nov-19-2010 |
