Usual time is around two hours. |

Subject: RE: toronto martial law finally condemned From: GUEST,number 6 Date: 10 Dec 10 - 10:02 AM a man named Nobody Below is from that link. This in itself is very disturbing. "One of the key questions is who arrested Mr. Nobody. The officer listed on the arrest record provided a badge number that doesn't correspond to anyone on the Toronto force, according to the SIU, or to any officer believed to have worked in G20 policing." biLL |

Subject: RE: toronto martial law finally condemned From: JennieG Date: 10 Dec 10 - 01:12 AM It probably has as much to do with folk music as many other BS threads here. As one who knows (slightly) and likes (well.....doesn't mind) TO, I followed all this with interest, and couldn't believe the police powers. Some of the stories that emerged from the murky depths of compounds where 'prisoners' were taken were appalling. Cheers JennieG |

Subject: toronto martial law finally condemned From: ollaimh Date: 09 Dec 10 - 06:43 PM finally some one has stood up to the abuse of democracy brought by the virtual martial law decaared in toronto for the g seven meetings. the ontario ombudsman had found that the police arrest and detention of about fifteen hundred protesters with only a few charges , using a protection of public buildingd regulation, was tantamount to declaring martial law. police detained and searched people miles from any public buidling and arrested anyone not cooperatings and even many bystanders. our corporate totalitarianist media ans our policticians have sttod mum but at least the ombudsman has had the courage to forcefully comdemn the wrong full actions of all levels of authority. the police chief has been lying though his teeth to repress the reports importance and indeed refused to answer questions from the ombudsman. at lest the ontario government accepted the report, now the federal tories should take some responsibility. the abuses were so bad that when one police car was set on fire the police left it on fire for eight hours to make sure all the media got the picture. thats right it kept burning--the cops had to have maintained the fire to keep it going, and there is suggestion that their own agents provacateurs set the fire in the first place. the toronto police have been eroding democracy for decades but this was the worst ever seen and here's to ombudsman marin for pulling no punches and fulfilling the role as the only agdent left for denmocracy available to common people |
