Thanks for your post, Sandy. I didn't know there were two kinds of coyotes.

Patsy, I bet that coyote has developed a permanent fear of the lake and won't be going near it again.

I wonder where they will release it. That's a hard thing to decide.

What a heart warming story awh! This is the kind of thing that restores my faith in humans again. As long as the mutt doesn't think a burley rescuer or two is going to be there every time it happens though hey!

To be honest Wiley was a Western Coyote and Trudeau's fur parka would no doubt have come from an Eastern Coyote. Although cousins they are very different beasts with the Eastern variety much more like the grey timber wolf in both size and habit. Like a wolf it hunts in extended family packs and is a magnificent but dangerous beast. Its winter fur is long and thick as you can see in the parka.

"Holly?" Are you kidding me??

Great story, but did the animal really need a Christmasy name to make us feel all warm and fuzzy?

Fear not. There are no roadrunners in Chicagoland.

Well, word on the street is that was indeed the Acme Rescue Company of 2nd Street in Chicago...

Also, I have it on good sources that the vet who examined the coyote has confirmed that there were no roadrunners in his tummy... That kinda scares me... Maybe the roadrunner is out on another floating chunk of ice??? Horrors, no...

B;~)

Link. I imagine by the time it had watched the arrival of the equipment and people, and had been in and out of the water a couple of times, this coyote was astonished that someone didn't eat it.

Lucky pooch.

Here's a link to a happy story from the City of the Big Shoulders.

There are a couple of ads first, but they are very short.
