Subject: RE: TECH Mobile help Reqd From: Arthur_itus Date: 17 Mar 11 - 05:04 PM Mike Most of the newspaper shops will top up Asda sims. Just need to ask them if they top up Asda sims. Some of them don't even know until you ask them to check :-) Martin McColl Newsagents do for starters |

Subject: RE: TECH Mobile help Reqd From: MikeL2 Date: 17 Mar 11 - 12:06 PM Hi Arthur Thanks for the Asda tip-off. It looks good to me. We will have a good look at this one. How do you top up the card. I guess through ASda ?? Cheers Mike |

Subject: RE: TECH Mobile help Reqd From: Arthur_itus Date: 16 Mar 11 - 04:07 PM If you are going to use those phones again Mike, check out Asda's sims payg. They are very cheap and they actually use the Vodaphone Network, but they don't make that obvious. My wife and daughter are using Asda's and I top them up with £10 every so often. http://www.asdamobile.com/sim_pack.html |

Subject: RE: TECH Mobile help Reqd From: MikeL2 Date: 16 Mar 11 - 03:47 PM Hi Many thanks to all who have contributed to my request. Looks like we will have to try to twist T Mobile's arm a bit. This may not be possible but it is worth a try. WE only have the things to use in an emergency...and luckily we haven't had any so the phones just didn't get used. As I said earlier we do have business mobiles on our own "network" where we can phone most of our relations and friends as they have the "network" phones too. For the others we use landlines. Thanks for your help and I will try to recover my sixty odd quid....but I am not not holding my breath. Cheers Mike |

Subject: RE: TECH Mobile help Reqd From: Becca72 Date: 16 Mar 11 - 02:04 PM What everyone else has said. Family members have had PAYG phones and the credits do expire after a certain amount of time. |

Subject: RE: TECH Mobile help Reqd From: JohnInKansas Date: 16 Mar 11 - 01:55 PM Most of the "prepaid" phones - at least the US versions - do "expire" if not used for a while. Typically here you have a "number of minutes" remaining, but also an "expiration date" (sometimes shown as "number of days remaining") both of which should be shown by the phone. If you drift past the expiration date any remaining time is lost. "Adding time" also "adds days" according to a formula that varies with the provider. You should be able to purchase new time and re-activate the phone, using the same procedure used at the time of original setup. Some, but not all, providers permit you to request that the original phone number be restored, but the old number may already have been assigned to another phone if the phone has been expired for very long, so it's not always possible. Subject: RE: TECH Mobile help Reqd From: katlaughing Date: 16 Mar 11 - 01:54 PM That's it, exactly with T mobile. You have to use them within a certain time period or lose them, unless you can talk them into reinstating as Arthur says. |

Subject: RE: TECH Mobile help Reqd From: Arthur_itus Date: 16 Mar 11 - 01:49 PM What Newport Boy says, except, that I doubt they will do anything. Worth a try. That happened with me, with my daughters phone. Fortunately it was with the same company and I threatened to take my business away from them and other threats. I got credits on my monthly plan in the end, but it took a lot of hard fighting. I beleive it's in the small print. |

Subject: RE: TECH Mobile help Reqd From: Newport Boy Date: 16 Mar 11 - 01:11 PM A lot of PAYG phones require use at least once in 6 months to keep the SIM card valid. If you've gone over that, I think you'll have to contact Tmobile. Phil |

Subject: TECH Mobile help Reqd From: GUEST,MikeL2 Date: 16 Mar 11 - 11:50 AM hi My wife and I both have personal mobiles that we have not used for some time. Not sure how long for. We have separate mobiles for business which we use all the time and are on a BT contract. On our personal phones we are both on T Mobile Pay As You Go. I was out walking today and needed to ring my wife and used the personal mobile (Nokia), only to find that it displayed " SIM CARD NOT REGISTERED". This was repeated each time I tried to use the phone. I know that I had about £40 on the card. When I got home I charged the phone but the same thing happened. I checked my wife's phone Motorola and the same thing happened -slightly different wording. She has about £25 on hers. Has anybody any ideas what has happened and what we can do about it?? Cheers MikeL2 |
