Subject: RE: Tech: PENTAX Optio 60 Digital Camera From: JohnInKansas Date: 23 Apr 11 - 05:11 PM Better than just reading a manual on line every time you need it, the link Leadfingers posted will open as a PDF file. Right-click on the link in the post above, and pick "Save Target As." Pick a location to put it on your own computer and you'll have all 188 pages right there where you can refer to it as needed. Or just click the link and save it after it finishes loading. Lines like you describe most likely are the result of a defect in the memory in the camera. You probably have a "memory card" in the camera, and also a small built-in memory. Sometimes the memory card can be reformatted, which should be done ONLY using the program built into the camera. The manual should give you instructions for how to do it properly. Rarely, a memory card may fail and will need to be replaced. You can consider that after other remedies in the manual indicate it's necessary. Smaller sizes of memory cards, probably sufficient for the use you described, shouldn't be expensive, but you'll want to consuld the manual to find precisely what kind to get if you decide that's what is needed. A rather remote possibility is that one or more of the contacts that connect the memory card may be dirty or for other reason isn't making secure contact, so the pictures are "missing" the lines of data transmitted through the faulty ones. Just removing the card and putting it back in sometimes will help, but if any other kind of "cleaning" is needed you will want to proceed with caution - or find someone with experience at doing it. Subject: Tech: PENTAX Optio 60 Digital Camera From: GUEST,Irish Guest Date: 23 Apr 11 - 09:01 AM Who will help an elderly "Techagnostic" ? My daughter recently emigrated to the US and left me her "Wonderful, New Fangled Digital Camera" but , of course, she didn't require the Manual after the first reading , several years ago, and disposed of it. Now I have this fine piece of equipment but cannot manage it. I take a shot but when I connect the camera to my Laptop the photo looks "lined" (it's almost as if it had been taken through a venetian blind). Have I merely got to re-set it or (a) is the camera "broken" (b) Is my Computer "broken" ? I just want to use it to take Landscape photos to download to my photo files , for comparison with many old photos that I have in them already. Help ! Help! |
