Dave the Gnome - the singer who had somewhat of a hit with 'I get a kick out of you' was the late Gary Shearston, an Ozzie singer.

According to Wikipedia (which I know isn’t always accurate!), Eden Kane was the eldest of three Sarstedt brothers, real name Richard Graham Sarstedt. The one called Clive later became known as Robin Sarstedt. It also gives Eden’s real name as Richard on his website.

Never met Peter but, back in 1964/5 when I was 17/18, around the time 'Boys Cry' was charting, my band opened at two shows for his brother, Clive Sarstedt (whose professional name is Eden Kane) at our local venue. A very nice chap, very professional, who kindly offered us the use of his band's excellent PA and back-line gear. A very good atmosphere in the dressing-room, which we shared with Clive and his band, The Downbeats.

Clive is still performing, often in shows with Marty and Roxy Wilde. Still a great guy and an excellent performer. And still too bloody handsome! ;-) :-)

It’s a song my friends and I did at Girvan Folk Festival a few years back in their (supposed to be humorous, not serious) Folk Band competition. Our lead singer (female) dressed to look like Peter Sarstedt, complete with stick-on moustache and wig. The wig stayed on, but the tache kept unsticking and moving around at all sorts of strange angles, which brought the house down! It might still be on YouTube too!

Do you know Rob Mason, Robin? Used to sing with a duo called "The Likes of Us" who did a lot on the folk circuits around Lancashire until his singing partner, Vern, passed away some years back.

They used to do a version which may be the one you are after. He is on Faceache I think

I think the one I'm looking for is yet another one. I have the Les Barker one somewhere and this one does not sound familiar from the snippets that I have been told about.
