Subject: RE: BS: LIVESTRONG From: catspaw49 Date: 03 Aug 11 - 04:21 PM Whatever happened to that scared little girl who seemed at times so fearful of life? She used to post under the those names used by the OP but that can't be her! The OP on this thread is confident, positive, and wonderfully empowered.............I think I need to report this to Max as someone has stolen Michelle's identity! Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: LIVESTRONG From: ChanteyLass Date: 03 Aug 11 - 03:26 PM Michelle, here is another aspect of LIVESTRONG. Judy is based at "my" local Y in Warwick, Rhode Island. I wish you success in your fundraising efforts and in the event. I donate to the YMCA fund that provides financial aid for participants in these programs. Experience has shown me that this link is probably too long to turn into a blue clicky. I'll try to do that, but if it fails, it is http://warwickonline.com/stories/Livestrong-at-Y-gives-new-strength-for-cancer-survivors,38706?content_source&category_id=4&search_filter&event_mode&event_ts_from&list_type&order_by&order_sort&content_class&sub_type=stories&town_id http://warwickonline.com/stories/Livestrong-at-Y-gives-new-strength-for-cancer-survivors,38706?content_source&category_id=4&sear |

Subject: RE: BS: LIVESTRONG From: LilyFestre Date: 02 Aug 11 - 06:12 PM Donuel, People who have had cancer and survived are often inspired to get into better shape with nutrition and exercise to fend off any further cancer or to be in fighting shape should it happen to recur. Cancer cells can't live in oxygenated blood....a great motivator for exercise. Also, women with estrogen related cancers are 80% more likely to NOT have a recurrence if they lose weight (another reason to eat better and exercise). Having had both uterine and ovarian cancer, I can tell you that the above reasons are a HUGE motivator for me to get into better shape. My hips still haven't recovered 100% from chemo nor has my energy level but I'm doing my best and I'm going to do my best to get through the 10K which may not be much for some, but it's BIG to me!!!! Anyway, I hope that you might consider donating even a few bucks. The LIVESTRONG organization does so much for so many...everything from support for patients and families to research to to nutrition/exercise to community awareness and advocacy. Be well & LIVE STRONG!!! (I love that!!) Thanks again! Michelle |

Subject: RE: BS: LIVESTRONG From: gnu Date: 02 Aug 11 - 05:53 PM Good for you. We need more people like you who push the issues. But, I have only two "mainstream" charities... IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax, NS and a local men's shelter. If I had more, I'd give more but times are hard all around eh. Good luck. |

Subject: RE: BS: LIVESTRONG From: Donuel Date: 02 Aug 11 - 05:21 PM the fact that many people with cancer are far more fit and healthy than I, fills me with mixed feelings. |

Subject: BS: LIVESTRONG From: LilyFestre Date: 02 Aug 11 - 05:12 PM Dear Mudcat Pals, This summer I'm participating in the LIVESTRONG Challenge in Philadephia, PA. If you're not aware, the LIVESTRONG seeks to inspire and empower people affected by cancer and through the LIVESTRONG Challenge I'm picking a fight with cancer and uniting with others who are interested in making cancer a global priority. On August 20th, I'm going to walk in the LIVESTRONG 10k Event. In addition to this, I'm hoping to raise $500.00 for the fight against cancer. With your help and support, I know I can accomplish both. I've established a personal website: LIVESTRONG 10K Event Donation Page For Michelle where you can learn more about my participation and contribute safely to the cause. Remember, every dollar counts. Every. Single. One. Cancer has crossed the line for far too many people. Now, I'm walking to stand up for the 28 million people living with cancer worldwide (including me!). I'd like to thank you in advance for your donation. If you can't donate, please think about joining me by registering on www.teamLIVESTRONG.org. Thanks and LIVESTRONG!! Michelle Lawrence |
