So the UK points at the US as the bad example? The US used to point to Germany as the bad example. Now they own the NYSE, most of the Euro respondsibilities and can defeat or conquer countries with a banker's statement instead of tanks and planes. All the while the US is playing war on three fronts.

Looking at it selfishly, I suppose it might help save the rest of the world from falling into the same trap.

Already the best defence for the NHS and the BBC and a good few other things can be to say "look at the USA"...

Notice that Jack, Greg and Ron can not express their vision of total conservative success.

Perhaps they can not conceive of America obeying all of their deepest desired new laws. The dismemberment of current regulations was supposed to be a good thing.
They might not openly endorse slavery yet slavery by other means and words is now being excitedly discussed by conservative patriotic think tanks.

To their defense, no one imagines that their cause would ever turn against them to the point of arrest or deadly engagment.
Even fence sitters like Sophie in Sophies Choice did not espect that she was to be singled out for non compliance or enemy status.

Avenging the South and seeing the South rise again is a powerful stimulant for the sates rights crowd.

The world the conservatives want will be opposed by terrorism if not by another civil war. Does legislating tolerence and compromise seem likely to you this year?

Idiocracy was a Zuckermanesque take on a cut back society.

COnservatives push new laws for decades until an opportunity opens up and they get it passed. 12 states are trying to pass Sharia Law laws. Behind those are actual proposals to criminalize becoming a muslim.

Civil rights have been attacked with patriot acts by saying, "if you don't do anything wrong you have nothing to worry about".

Once we became a nation in which the subject of torture was a legitimate question of expedience, the slippery slope turned into a cliff.

The look of the country will be shaped first in televsion programing starting with abolishing npr and then the cable wars will begin.
What doesn't muster destruction by law will be done by money and the ownership of new distribution agencies.

Fear of breaking a written or unwritten blasphemy law will become more powerful than the war on terror under Bush.

The market will be Christian friendly and bar trading with unbelievers.


In short the woes that Pakistan is suffering today, America will suffer tommorrow but under a "opposite religious state".

There'd be singing and dancing. And parades. Lotsa parades! There'd be food and drink for everyone. Shelter and clothes, too, of course. And health care. For everyone. Even those who "don't deserve" it. Yes, yes, I can see it all quite clearly. Oh, and civil liberties. Gotta have civil liberties. Eh? Not a chance? Prolly not. Oh well.

I hear time and again, "be careful what you wish for".

What if corporate power, libertarian and Tea Party prayers are all answered, and the answer is 'yes'?

What if, maybe it's a big and cynical "what if", but what if
the desperate misinformed Americans get everything they wish for? With the help of corporate fascism and unlimited election money all things are 'probable'.

Suppose they get all the abolishment they scream about, suppose they get all the ethnic purity and anti immigrant policies, fences, prisons and military responses they are told we need?



personally I think

A new caste system would form in the blink of an eye. The tea credo of self responsibility would have to demonize and blame the poorest, most diseased and handicapped; they would have to drive a wedge deep into the heart of what was formerly known as social justice. A wheel chair would be a sign of weakness, a disability would be the curse of God unless a secure personal fortune took care of their needs. The thousand points of light would wink out as cahrity grows more feeble. The "trick Al down" would dry up in a drought of cash.


I don't make any claims as the worthiness of the claims that we have no money or even the culpability of those who extracted money by policies of trade, financial corruption and wars.
I think we are beyond the questions of guilt or innocence. Did FDR set up a nanny state that has weakened the human spirit? Was this current financial problem designed to disarm an America that got too close to being a loose cannon of war and torture for oil and profit motives alone. Perhaps its the whim of several families who see themselves as the new Machiavellian owners of a new world order.
I am too isolated from the real power brokers who share the air I breathe to know who or what to blame. So without blame I ask, what if this conservative corporate trend continues unabated.




Personally what do you think?

What would America look like without regulatory agencies that used to hobble free markets, cripple corporations and personal fortunes that dwarf the robber barons and Railroad kings of the gilded age?

What if the only revenue allowed was a national yard sale that earned money from the sale of Yellowstone or Redwood forests.
Suppose the US Post Office is finally privatized after the 2006 law to pay for 75 years of employee benefits in 10 years or be abolished?

Would Municipal water systems like post offices be sold to private corporations which extract profits before whatever sub-standard service is delivered?

Will the hundreds of millions of desperate homeless poor find their destination to be factory prisons when food is too rare for soup kitchens to feed the "needless eaters"?

Take a long cold hard stare at this America. Don't just imagine it impossible , think about it long and hard.

How would the 1st amendment look after religion and state were man handled by the likes of Congressman King or Republican candidate Cain who wants a final solution for Mosques. Will Cain slay Able?

Has history answered my question a thousnad times over?
