Dear God, Kendall, you don't add ice to Glenlivet or Glenfiddich or any other malt, do you? Putting ice in your malt whisky reduces the temperature of the whisky, freezes the aroma and dulls the taste. A little spring water's fine. I like mine neat, personally.

I've tried everything from 180 proof shine to Glen Livet and Glen Fiddich. That's where I stopped. I can drink either of them on the rocks. However, a wee drop of water really brings out the flavor.

shine? It's fine for effect, but it has very little 'taste'...except when you get the bad stuff(I happened to get a decent sample of the good stuff 15+ years ago when some guy demonstrated making it at the Smithsonian Folk Festival. It was ok...a teeny bit better than Iron City beer....)
