Do Americans find his direct style difficult to accept? For example, he told one (obese) black man who had fathered numerous children to "Put something on the end of it in future". The USA audience seemed shocked, but quite amused too. Also, some of his expressions are perhaps very British, eg "Put a sock in it, mate!" (ie shut up)

I have actually watched a number of his shows in UK and USA. What struck me was how many of the participants in both countries are obese. I've read that obesity is a factor among poorer sections of society, but why should this be, I wonder? My parents and grandparents were extremely poor when young, but the last thing they'd ever have been was fat! And why should it be that only 'the poor' appear on Jeremy's shows? Do the 'better off' not have bad relationships/problems too? Some interesting sociology here I feel.

I recently read his book "I'm Only Being Honest" and found to my surprise a lot of good sense in it. He seems to be sincere in his quest to turn dysfunctional lives around by hard-hitting truth rather than 'there-there' sympathy. His basic tenet is that everyone is ultimately responsible for their own actions and the consequences, and the only way to sort things out is to make them face themselves and make an effort to be more adult. I imagined the book would be self-aggrandising and instead found him to be painfully modest and, as the title says, honest. No-one can deny that the problems of drink, drugs and irresponsible parenting among young people are doing harm to our society.

I dislike Jeremy almost as much as the two tory turds Phil and kirsty. However 'the all important DNA tests' still have me clutching the edge of my stomach.

Its very queer what you can export, and what nobody wants. All those nice car designs that we used to have - Sunbeam rapiers, Vauxhall Crestas, Triumph Heralds, - and motorbikes.

And yet we can flog Jeremy Kyle to the world.
