Subject: RE: Thread Name Game--a new take From: --seed Date: 21 Oct 99 - 02:17 PM I guess that I'm not the only one who finds Catspaw a useful target for gags (I'm not really pickin' on ya, Patsclaw--it's just that the first two gags I came up with seemed to work with the personna you've created for yourself better than with that of any other member (no pun intended). Neo, have you looked up the earlier "Thread Name Game" thread(s)? There are a lot of funny combinations. But you're right: I expected this one to take off a bit more than it has so far. --seed

Subject: RE: Thread Name Game--a new take From: bseed(charleskratz) Date: 20 Oct 99 - 07:49 PM All right--everyone's on track (assuming that since Neo made up the Mudcat AA meeting in an earlier post she could use it as the real one to anchor the pair). Some good chuckles here. Here's an acutal pairing I saw last night: WyoWoman's trip to Memphis/In search of a 6-string banjo And a made up one: Welcome a new member/Catspaw's had a transplant? --seed |

Subject: RE: Thread Name Game--a new take From: MMario Date: 20 Oct 99 - 11:09 AM That's close, but you would want to put it in the style of thread names: MudCat Tavern #16/MudCatters AA meeting tonite sorta like that |
Subject: RE: Thread Name Game--a new take From: Little Neophyte Date: 20 Oct 99 - 10:40 AM Good point MMario, I'll just slowly roll by the monitor on my tricycle and quickly glance. So let me get this straight. A "perfect" thread name to complement the REAL thread name. Well then, how about this..................... Mudcatter's AA for "Tavern & Oyster Bar" series. You know, kind of like a rehabilitation place for those addicted to Bar Scene Threads? Did I do this right? Little Neo |
Subject: RE: Thread Name Game--a new take From: MMario Date: 20 Oct 99 - 10:09 AM Little Neo - you shouldn't hold the monitor over your head while reading threads, you could drop it and smush your face! Translation: an on-again/off-again "game" is to notice consecutive thread names that have a particular affinity - either because so incongrous and/or funny.(see the previous "thread name game" threads) they had to be real threads and had to actually occur next to each other... What bseed is now suggesting is to take one REAL thread name and make up the "perfect" thread name to go with it |
Subject: RE: Thread Name Game--a new take From: Little Neophyte Date: 20 Oct 99 - 10:02 AM Charles, this is way over my head. Little Neo |
Subject: RE: Thread Name Game--a new take From: katlaughing Date: 20 Oct 99 - 09:10 AM Bseed...good idea, but i can't think of any at the moment. DId see this pairing, though: REQ:Some say the devil is dead/LYR REQ: Tear Drops Are Two Steps Away |
Subject: Thread Name Game--a new take From: bseed(charleskratz) Date: 20 Oct 99 - 02:57 AM I just thought of a new variation of the Thread Name Game I started several months ago: The imaginary thread name game: Take one thread name and make up the name of a perfect thread to follow (or precede it). What got it all boiling in my brain was seeing for the nth time the thread name "B.S. for Catspaw." At first I was going to merely comment at the end of that thread that this stood by itself as a fine name game pairing all by itself, but not everyone's mind works in weird patterns as mine does ('Spaw's does, of course), so I'd better make it specific what made that a name game pairing all by itself. So I made up a thread which would bring the point home: B.S. for Catspaw/Coals to Newcastle --seed |
