Glad you liked it, Charlie. When I feel bored and lonely late at night, I go to YouTube and search for twirlers.   It's amazing. And international.

Leeneia-

Not exactly on topic but "Wow!"

Charmion-

Not my idea but Alison Kelley of the Johnson Girls above.

But how could I resist?

What we should encourage is a line of dungaree jackets, with the label "Paddy West."

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Behold three sausage casings in the default color (black):

enjoy the incredible twirling

A red & white sundress or even a pink sailor dress is a refreshing change.

Yes, the dress itself has a certain flair. It's the color that's - shall we say - outre.

At least it's not the polyester-knit sausage casing (one size stretches to fit four others) that most women are wearing today.
========
But by the way, some synthetic fabrics are quite nice nowadays.

Uh-oh! I love the dress. Except--I don't wear dresses; it's 100% synthetic; the price is beyond me; and I'd rather it came in navy blue and white. Other than that, I love the dress!

In the tradition of the army, if they both turn up dressed identically to the same affair, the junior one has to leave and change.

Leeneia-

What's a mystery to me is who would come up with such a marketing scheme.

Still, I do like pink...

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Well, thanks to Alison Kelley of the Johnson Girls, I have this link to what the well-attired shanty-singer should be wearing this year: click arrgggh!

Read it again. It says "up-to-date fashions." Their stories can be however old they wish.

Why is a storyteller up to date? Ain't those folk tales kind of --- old?

The world of fashion, especially women's fashions, is well-organized. Months before those dresses were in the stores, the fashion industry decided and announced that (for example) flowered fabrics would be big in spring 2012. Red would be a featured color.

Of course, it won't be that simple. there will be a number of looks, cuts, and colors to choose from. But clothing production will not be random, by any means.

Why? Well, for one thing, the people who sell shoes, underwear and barrettes want to make products that will look good with the garments. What a waste if stores were selling red and white dresses while shoes were turquoise and yellow.

What you're seeing is two women in up-to-date fashions for whatever season those pictures were taken.

We were told as new Primary schoolteachers to try and wear brightly-coloured clothes, pretty necklaces etc as it helps to hold the class's attention. I wonder if storytellers do this deliberately too?

Will you wear red, oh my dear, oh my dear?

So many choices but my favorite answer remains:

What do you care if I just go bare?

Charley Noble

Sppoookky. Maybe there is a secret sisterhood of story tellers, all in floral uniform, seeking to brainwash us all with sophisticated hypnotic techniques embedded within their stories.

Or maybe I am too steeped in conspiracy theories for my own good....

Recently announced by EFDSS is a "Performance Storytelling Taster Day". That reminded me of a storyteller that I heard a few years ago, so I Googled her. Hold and below (as my friend Clive says), both ladies are very similarly dressed. See
here and here.

Richard
