Maybe we shouldn't buy from companies like Fender and Gibson. They outsource so much production to Red China.
I'm beginning to grow fond of Godin products. Nice guitars at a nice price.

Who said this?:

"Barry Goldwater amd Richard Nixon would not believe their eyes if they could see the amount of deficit spending that their present day, so called conservatives, are involved with... And for what?"

"The fact that we're here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. Leadership means 'The buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America's debt limit."

Who posted this?:
"The Bush-Cheney team has racked up another $3 trillion in debt in
just 6 years. The US national debt now stands at $8.4 trillion
dollars"

"And federal debt has ballooned to $8.3 trillion, up from $5.6 trillion when Mr. Bush took office. Republicans are trying to raise the authorized debt ceiling to $9.6 trillion."

Here's the way it works, Sawz...

You pump $$$ into the economy and it works at all levels...

It's like your lawn mower... You get trash in the carb (No money in the economy) then it quits on you... There are times when the private sector is pumpin' in enough $$$ to keep the engine running an that's fine... Leave it the heck alo0ne and pay off debt... These times ain't them...

This is what used to be taught in every college in America with the exception of FEU (Flat Earth University)...

It's basic economics... I mean, single moms with 9th grade educations understand it... Pay your debt when you can and borrow when you can't...

This ain't f'n rocket surgery here...

Well, I figure it this way:

The Supreme Court is a jury of sorts. There are 9 of them, so that's 3 jobs lost regarding juries.

Yanks decided to have 11 and not 12 players in football, so that's another.

Black holes account for at least 8, so I'd hazard a guess at an even dozen.

Is there a prize for the correct answer?

Simple math (numbers are made-up): start with 500,000 jobs. Eliminate 50,000 jobs in industry, commerce and service industries. Eliminate 50,000 government jobs (police, firefighters, teachers, bureaucrats). Total job loss is 100,000. Create 90,000 new jobs in industry, commerce and service industries. Net reduction in jobs is 10,000.

The word net means what is left when you add and/or subtract changes from the figure you started with. A net reduction in population means that deaths exceed births, not that there are no births. A net reduction in jobs means that job losses exceed gains, not that there are no gains.

"Saying that a net reduction in jobs means no new jobs were created is like saying that a net reduction in population means no new babies were born."

Which means what?

I think one reason we are losing jobs is that everything is smaller..TVs, convection vs. regular ovens..there are fewer people needed to package them, drive them, stevedore them etc...mg

We need to find a way to have more jobs for agricultural workers..fruit is rotting on the vines while there are strong, able people unemployed. Some people would not mind agricultural work, and some would be delighted by it, if there were good sanitation facilities, safe, decent housing..perhaps mobile..secure places. We need more dairies (yes, it is perfectly safe and wonderful for some descendents of some people..like Swiss to eat dairy products)that can employ people locally..we don't need to have one big dairy farm taking up half of Wisconsin. We need to realize as a country that some people are temporarily unemployed and underemployed and some, due to handicaps, low energy, whatever, are going to not be competitive and we need to set up jobs for them..could be public sector farms for disabled etc...maybe growing for public schools or something...We need way better animal husbandry..and Iowa does not need to be one big pig farm either...we could get smarter by far..

More bogus stats by the bogus stats chamapion...

These numbers represent the jobs created by the stimulus and not the entire economy...

Obama never said that the stimulus created 4 millions jobs... He said that his economic policies, which are not all on the stimulus, have created 4 million jobs...

Guess again, Saws... Garbage in, garbage out... Read real stuff and not right winged spin blogs...

White House Releases State-By-State Employment Data on Impact of American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan
January 9, 2009
WASHINGTON, D.C. – During a briefing with National Economic Council Director Larry Summers, the White House today released state-by-state data detailing the jobs impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan. Summers discussed President Barack Obama's plan to create jobs, stimulate the economy, and foster long-term economic growth.

"We need to immediately jumpstart job creation and President Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan will help those who have suffered the most during this economic crisis. Our economy is in the midst of an unprecedented crisis and we need to act now," Summers said today.

Obama's plan will create 3-4 million jobs over the next two years. See below for state-by-state data detailing the employment impact of the recovery plan.
AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT PLAN: STATE-BY-STATE JOBS IMPACT

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan is a nationwide effort to create jobs, jumpstart growth and transform our economy to compete in the 21st century. The President has set a central goal that this plan will create or save 3 to 4 million jobs over the next two years. Independent analyses by Macroeconomic Advisers and Moody's have confirmed that the recovery plan will meet this jobs goal. Jobs created will be in a range of industries from clean energy to health care, with over 90% in the private sector.

The table below outlines the impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan on employment by state. The estimates are derived from an analysis of the overall employment impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act conducted by Christina Romer, Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, and Jared Bernstein, Chief Economist for the Vice President, and detailed estimates of the working age population, employment, and industrial composition of each state. These estimates are tentative, and subject to change based on the final composition of the legislation.
