Subject: RE: BS: Lookng for place Dickens fair musicians From: artbrooks Date: 17 Nov 12 - 09:08 AM I assume they will have wheels? There are 2 AYH hostels in SF - one at Ft. Mason next to Fisherman's Wharf and one on Mason St. downtown. My AYH book says the dorm rate is $25-$30 per night...more for private rooms. Lots more information at http://www.hiusa.org/. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lookng for place Dickens fair musicians From: Leadfingers Date: 17 Nov 12 - 07:24 AM We have played regularly at the Dickens Festival in Rochester , Kent , UK , and have to agree with Jack - Celtic music didnt seem to exist in Victorian London |
Subject: RE: BS: Lookng for place Dickens fair musicians From: Jack Campin Date: 17 Nov 12 - 06:21 AM A couple of days ago I went to an exhibition about Dickens's musical connections, at the Royal Academy of Music in London. http://www.ram.ac.uk/dickens-and-music Interesting material. A "Celtic band" would be about as relevant to his world as Mongolian throat singing, though. |

Subject: BS: Lookng for place Dickens fair musicians From: open mike Date: 16 Nov 12 - 02:30 PM I am putting out a request for a possible place to stay near the Bay Area for two Chico-area musician friends who are going to be involved in the Dickens Fair at the Cow Palace for the next 5 weekends. Any ideas or recommendations would be welcome. Mik and Morgan have been in a Celtic Band, Beltain, for many years. |
