Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: GUEST,pete from seven stars link Date: 20 May 14 - 05:12 PM hope you had a good day, bill. |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: akenaton Date: 20 May 14 - 03:50 PM Agreed Bill. |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: Bill D Date: 20 May 14 - 03:39 PM I knew two people who made the choice for themselves, and I respected it totally. I hope I never have to decide, but I do want the decision.. if ever relevant.. to be MINE. That requires some clever planning in the US to dodge the invasive restrictions in most states. |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: akenaton Date: 20 May 14 - 03:36 PM Hi M, I think Cilla was referring to an old age accompanied by perhaps dementia, or some crippling condition. Not a lot to look forward to I suppose, and one does get a little "world weary", society seems to get more dumb every year, children more poorly educated, no idealism left, huge unemployment and drug problems for the young, no alternative to the media control we see around us. We were the last free generation I think, and we blew it. I'm 70 M and still working hard but I think 75 would be fine.....if I don't fall off a roof first! :0) Congrats on being so eloquent in your advanced years....keep on rollin'. |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: MGM·Lion Date: 20 May 14 - 03:15 PM Well, I am right into 80s now, & still going. But my first wife, as some will know, took herself off at 72, no longer content (just the right word, Sister!) to go on by reason of degenerative illness which she declined to put up with. Time marches on, indeed -- but not necessarily at the same tempo for all... ~M~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: GUEST,CS Date: 20 May 14 - 02:42 PM I will go on as long as I'm content to do so. A bit like Bardot, I hope to reach my 'peak' when Reclusive Mad Old Cat Lady phase sets in. Not fully sure when that will happen, but I'm guessing maybe in my late sixties or seventies - if I'm lucky to get that far. |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: gnu Date: 20 May 14 - 02:34 PM Happy birthday, Bill!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: MGM·Lion Date: 20 May 14 - 02:29 PM Happy birthday, Bill ~~~~ and MANY HAPPY RETURNS! ~M~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: Bill D Date: 20 May 14 - 02:19 PM "ready to die at 75" urkk... and I just turned 75 TODAY! I've decided I can't die till I get caught up on my 'to do' list. |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: MGM·Lion Date: 20 May 14 - 02:08 PM Yes, well ~~ wonder if Cilla Black will feel the same in 5 years time? BTW, Ake: out of interest -- what exactly did you "like" about the remark? How far are you off 75, I wonder? ~M~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: Greg F. Date: 20 May 14 - 02:08 PM ...he already looks like Methuselah. Naah, that's Keith Richards. |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: akenaton Date: 20 May 14 - 01:44 PM I liked Cilla Black's statement that she will be "ready to die at 75" A refreshing change from the self important celebrities and others who think they are immortal.......immoral yes! |
Subject: RE: BS: Time Marches On From: Ebbie Date: 20 May 14 - 12:07 PM I have been known to say, Eliza, that the Rolling Stones look as though they had died, been buried and then dug up. |
