Sure is, Joe. Welcome home, you retired old.... fellow.
Here's the tune. (we ran this in the Folknik this year Sept/Oct, so I didn't have to do much work to get it here)
Blessings,
Barbara

Subject: Lyr Add: NOBODY EVER GETS KILLED AT OUR HOUSE
From: Joe Offer
Date: 21 Nov 99 - 10:39 AM

Glad it was you instead of me who typed it, Barbara. I was just about to, but I thought I'd take another look at the thread first. The late-night data on Chad Mitchell's recording isn't any more up-to-date, but it's interesting and a bit different:
No bathing suit beauties parade through our house
Nobody's having affairs
Nobody wiggles and giggles and jiggles
In cute little outfits and platinum hair
We miss all the gay and risque repartee
From Johnny and Ed every night
And out of sheer malice we never watch Dallas
Or know when the price is just right.
Great song, isn't it?

From: Barbara

NOBODY EVER GETS KILLED AT OUR HOUSE
(Charlie King, c 1984, Pied Asp Music, BMI)

Nobody ever gets killed at our house,
Nobody ever gets maimed.
No glorious fight on the court or the ice
Where the grown-up boys play
At their big money games.
No one gets shot at, run over or stabbed,
Nobody goes up in flames,
And the Army recruiters,
They never pass through here,
You must wonder how we stay sane.

CHORUS:
Joanne and Jamie curled up with their books,
I'm strumming an old song or new.
It may come as shock, but some nights we just talk.
It's amazing the depths that you can sink to.
We might watch the fire,
We might watch the baby,
We might watch the stars passing through,
Ah, but nobody ever gets killed at our house.
Take care, it could happen to you.

No bathing suit beauties parade through our house,
Nobody's having affairs.
Nobody wiggles or giggles or jiggles
In cute little outfits with platinum hair.
We miss all the gay and risque little jokes
From Johnny and Joanie and Bob.
And out of sheer malice, we never watch Dallas,
I guess you could say we've been robbed.

Chorus (We might watch....)

Ronald McDonald won't come to our house.
Barbie and Ken stay away.
No precocious teens sell us Calvin Klein jeans
Or feminine hygiene deodorant spray.
Imagine a childhood with out G.I. Joe,
Of all TV's wisdom deprived
In ignorant squalor with rings round our collars,
We live out our meaningless lives.

Chorus

Charlie says of the song, " I think the song is pretty self-evident: An arrogant counter-culture creep foists his values on the listening public. " Charlie declines to do the late night research needed to update the song. He recorded it on a tape "Feelings of Fire" and it also available in his new songbook, "Two Good Arms." Order from Charlie at
Vaguely Reminiscent Sounds

Book is $18, the tape $10 plus $1.50 ship and handling. (think these are still current)

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Nobody got murdered at my house last
From: Allan C.

I'm glad you reminded us, Barbara. I thought perhaps "carve the croc" was a euphemism for something and my poor brain was scratching around, trying to put together a short list of possibilities until I read the rest of your post.

You are most certainly a person of enormous talent. They are fortunate to have you and your abilities available for the costuming, etc..

A fine songwriter named Charlie King wrote it. I've got it around here, too. Tune's good but a little tricky if you don't have a good ear -- kind of like trying to sing the F Word song. A minor with modulations. I have a friend who kills it regularly, trying to do it a capella.
However right now I have to go carve the croc. If I get time later, I'll post it.
Should I say again, I'm costuming Peter Pan, it opens this week and I'm making the 9 ft crocodile out of foam rubber?
Blessings,
Barbara

I have a CD by Chad Mitchell called "Virgo Moon" that has the song "Nobody Ever Got Killed At Our House". The CD is at work and not at home. If that is the same song I will try to get it in the coming week. I don't remember the songwriter but the lyrics are printed in the CD insert. Yes, it is the same Chad Mitchell who was in a trio in the 60's

Subject: Nobody got murdered at my house last nig
From: lsnyder@gvi.net

I heard a funny song on the radio a few years back about a family that got rid of their TV set. It was called something like "Nobody Got Murdered At My House Last Night". I thought it was by Lou and Peter Berryman, but when I wrote them, they disavowed any knowledge of the song. Do you know it? At this point I need help with both tune and lyrics.

Thanks,

Lynn
