Linda, send me an email, and I can fix your membership or set up one for you. Membership is now required if you want to post in the BS section.

I haven't lived in South Carolina, but I've traveled extensively there. I suppose everybody from out of state would want to live in Charleston or Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach (all are nice), but there are many other places in South Carolina that might be wonderful places to live. I really like Beaufort - close to the ocean, but reasonably protected from hurricanes. Much farther inland, I discovered the little city of Cheraw, one of the most beautiful little towns I've ever seen. The state capital, Columbia, is quite nice. If they like rural living, the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway (State Route 11) might appeal to your friends. It's a very beautiful area, and it looks like it would be a wonderful place to live.

I know this is a non-music thread but I was having problems logging to the BS section. So apologies for posting here but I know Joe Offer will take care of it.
Anyway, my friend & her husband who live in Southern California are thinking about relocating to South Carolina. They are both in their 60's and her husband will be retiring in a few years.
So of course, they will not be moving there for jobs or schools.

They will sell their home here and hope to live in So. Carolina after her husband retires. Both have lived in So. California their entire lives but just tired of the crowds, high prices for everything, etc.
They would hope to buy a home in So. Carolina (but neither one of them has ever been there before) I think they just read various things about So. Carolina and seems like a good place to live.

Would appreciate any feedback from anyone who lives there or has lived there and what it might be like for a retired couple in their 60's? They don't have a particular city or area in South Carolina they want to relocate to yet - so open to checking out different locations there.

I think they want to buy a new or fairly new 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath
house (not a fixer upper) with space around them. Not like where they are now with all the houses on the block so close together and so much traffic.

If anyone who lives there or has lived there has any in-put to what life is like there would be appreciated. Just remember, they are in their 60's - and not going there to look for work or good schools.
