Over the past year I've been admiring the brave and resourceful young people (and at least one billionaire) who have been risking their physical safety in demonstrations against an imperious government trying to severely curtail the policy of "One Country. Two Systems". I think they were well aware of the odds against them due to the great central power of the Beijing government and the strong leader policy of Xi Jinping and his One Party. Now the boom has been lowered. Not the total boom. Not yet. The front end of the boom establishes an overbearing legalistic environment to further their domination.

I'm thinking of boycotting Chinese goods but at the moment I don't know if it is remotely effective. Picketing Walmart? Not 100% of their stuff is Chinese as long as they still carry Corelware and Lava soap.

And apparently a lot of medical medicines and supplies emanates from Chinese manufacturers. And the Chinese own a lot of stuff made not in China itself. Including many of our phones.

I'm wondering how much support Boris Johnson has gotten with his announcement of allowing Hong Kong residents to apply for British citizenship. Did I understand this correctly? That sounds like a pretty strong reaction and a big population bubble. Aren't there more than 2.9 million people in Hong Kong? If the offer is for a subset of people, doesn't that encourage divisiveness among the denizens?
Anyhow, I don't know many Chinese people in Alaska. I ran into a lovely person on a trail a couple weeks ago but it was hard to bring the subject up while keeping our eyes peeled for bears.
