Subject: RE: Tamashaw or 'Underneath her apron' From: Alex Date: 20 Nov 96 - 02:21 AM The title is "The Tamosher" on Battlefield Band's album "At The Front". Tamosher = penis. Hence she now has a baby to wrap up in her apron. Sleeve notes state, "Alan (Reid) learnt this song from TOCHER magazine, a publication from the archives of The School Of Scottish Studies, Edinburgh University. It was collected by Bessie Whyte..." |

Subject: Tamashaw or 'Underneath her apron' From: currie@rivers.dra.hmg.gb Date: 18 Nov 96 - 12:55 PM There is a song on the database called "Underneath her apron" listed as sung by Judy Collins. I have heard another version by a Scottish band (Battlefield?) which contains lines something like: "Wha gave to the tamashaw(???) beneath your starched brow(???) ?" This 'tamashaw' (or maybe tomorshore or....) occurs several times in the song. It's driving me crazy trying to work out what it is. Can anybody shed a little light? Ian Currie |
