Subject: RE: Dives and Lazarus -- Martin Simpson From: KarenJoyce Date: 08 Jan 23 - 07:49 PM Episode 7 of series 1 of The Old Songs podcast is about "Dives and Lazarus" with interviewee Nick Hart. It opens with Martin Simpson's performance from his album "The Bramble Briar", but this is with guitar accompaniment. There are, of course, renditions from several other performers excerpted as well. The podcast closes with Nick Hart singing the song complete, a capella. |
Subject: RE: Dives and Lazarus -- Martin Simpson From: GUEST,Andrew Bushmill Date: 08 Jan 23 - 04:19 PM I heard a recording years ago, and it got brought to mind when I came across a blog post about the song. They began with one verse of Simpson's a capella performance, then faded it out and started yammering I mean chatting. |

I only know of two recordings by him, an instrumental version on his and Wu Man's 1995 album Music for the Motherless Child, and accompanied singing on his 2001 album The Bramble Briar (plus reissues of this on a few anthologies). |
