Subject: Obit: Ted Ponsonby musician and sound engineer From: Felipa Date: 15 Sep 23 - 06:28 AM Ted Ponsonby of Letterkenny, County Donegal died on 13 Sept. 2023 Ted Ponsonby and his daughter Sarah playing with backup from Ruairi Friel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmhB8QmOrlc "Father and daughter duo, Ted and Sarah Ponsonby, mark the launch of their album, Brakin’ Trad with a special live performance filmed in Fitz Howard's Guitar Workshop, Letterkenny. "Ted Ponsonby needs no introduction to Donegal audiences. A songwriter producer and engineer he’s also an acclaimed instrumentalist with acoustic and electric guitars, dobro and Hammond organ in his repertoire. A noted session musician he’s worked with Freddie White, The Henry Girls and Arty McGlynn amongst others as well as a short stint with Van Morrison. Ted and Sarah are accompanied by Ruairí Friel on acoustic guitar." -------- ------- ------ The first time I remember meeting Ted was when he operated the sound system for a Derry Anti-Nuclear Group event; I suppose that was in the early 1980s. |
