Oh well got here at last. I should practice what I preach and not fix what works or upgrade computers when not essential but I had an offer on a K6 500 that I could not resist.

In theory, all I needed to do was put my hard disk, graphics card etc. itno what was supposed to be configured correctly, install a couple of driver files and I would be up and - running - an hour maybe 2 hours work at the most.

It didn't work out that way. The BIOS was wrongly configured for starters then I had to re-install Windows... Anyway, after several re-installs, God knows how many resets, solving interrupt conflicts on good old Windows plug and play? I have finaly reached a point where I can access the internet even though the PC is performing no better than my old P133.

The "inappropriate music" was his April Fool's day gag for the 'cat (hopefully). And, as with all deep subjects, sometimes it's nice to consider where all these roots the music puts out end up sprouting.

The song selection was pretty much in response to feedback from the chat room.

Personally, I think it was a good show. Not all to my taste, but Max did explain the connection between Zep and Robert Johnson. And we should all be aware of the contributions that Folk and Blues have made to modern music. Hey! perhaps that could be the topic for a show one day.

Finally managed to hear and see the radio show. I'm glad you changed the weekday because it means I can hear it on my day off.

Hesse has always been one of my favourites, especially the Glass Bead Game, and Narziss and Goldmund.

I got to see what a washtub bass is at last, too. Very similar to an Oz tea-chest bass - only the object used for the soundbox is changed but the way it's made and how it works looks exactly the same.

Sidhartha was my favorite many years ago. Hesse was one of my very favorite writers. as a matter of fact, I have to go back and read him again. I'm not sure of the name, (old age, BERT) but my second favorite was, I think, Journey to the East. It was simpler that Sidhartha, but it effected me much.

A fellow Hesse affecionado, I'm impressed. I thought I was the only one who's life had been affected by him.
