Subject: Lyr Add: WHISPERING (Schonberger & Schonberger) From: Jim Dixon Date: 02 Oct 07 - 11:29 PM Lyrics from the sheet music at Indiana University Sheet Music Collections: WHISPERING Words, Malvin Schonberger. Music, John Schonberger. San Francisco: Sherman, Clay & Co., © 1920. 1. Honey, I have something to tell you, and it's worthwhile listening to. Put your little head on my shoulder so that I can whisper to you. CHORUS: Whispering while you cuddle near me, Whispering so no one can hear me, Each little whisper seems to cheer me. I know it's true: there's no one, dear, but you. You're whispering why you'll never leave me, Whispering why you'll never grieve me. Whisper and say that you believe me, Whispering that I love you. 2. When the twilight shadows are falling and the weary world is at rest, Then I'll whisper just why I know, dear, loving time is always the best. |

Subject: RE: Chords for 'Whispering' From: John in Brisbane Date: 17 Apr 00 - 09:34 PM I'll try that formatting again. There are 8 beats to each bar. Each row of chords represents one bar. Regards, John

Subject: RE: Chords for 'Whispering' From: John in Brisbane Date: 17 Apr 00 - 09:21 PM Jeep Man, I've had a bit of fun producing the following chords from a four part harmony I found on the Web. There's nothing that's really too hard here once you remember your diminished chords. You can cheat initially on the on the sus2 chords etc and just use the root chord, but you'll lose some of the sparkle if you do. If you have any problems in fitting them to the tune pattern let me know after seven days and I can mail a midi or similar to you - I'll be away until then. This is a truly great song! Regards, John

Subject: RE: Chords for 'Whispering' From: Sorcha Date: 17 Apr 00 - 05:35 PM I sent Jeepman a personal with the chords, but here is what I sent him for Whispering> ,"had a session this afternoon and I have done the best I could. Had to watch REAL close and ask a lot of questions, but basically here it is. You may have to "tweak" them a little. Whispering in C, is for the most part---C (for quite a while, fool with > inversions and up the neck stuff), A7, D7,G7,C Like I told him the Ragtime stuff has some weird chords in it, you just never know what might fit. And try 9ths instead of 7ths, sometimes they sound better. |

Subject: RE: Chords for 'Whispering' From: GUEST,jdkdesign@aol.com Date: 17 Apr 00 - 12:53 PM I'd be interested in those chords too... I've worked some out but I'd have to sit down with paper to tell you what they are. Also the chords to :"Dream" (Johnny Mercer) - some really nice parts in that. I've worked it out in A which is hard to sing but sounds nice on guitar. Incidentally, some original chording seems odd to my ear, such as that in "I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now" (Words by Will Hough and Frank Adams, music by Joseph E. Howard and Harold Orlob – 1909). The chords I prefer are more like those in Whispering -- maybe later bands changed the chording. (And of course, you never hear the whole song, just the chorus.) -=Jim=- |

Subject: RE: Chords for 'Whispering' From: Sorcha Date: 14 Apr 00 - 07:10 PM Jeep man, I think you need to meet my banjo players. They play this one also, and I can get it for you (tomorrow, etc.)if no body else comes up with it. Send me a Personal message or e mail (I'm at bbc's) of the WHOLE list you have of this era stuff, and I will see what they have. "Angry", "Harbor Lights", etc. |
