You know, I lived in Edinburgh for 6 months in 1997 and I was absolutely delighted at the amount of support that traditional music had there and in the rest of the country.

I have heard the hew and cry over there about the lack of venues (I was very saddened by the Tron's closing)and support for traditional arts, but they are still MILES ahead of us here in the US.

I am asked to re-post this and I do herewith.  You never know, you might be in Edinburgh at that time.  Many of us have drawn so heavily on and benefitted so greatly from Scottish traditional music that our (at least moral) support of this effort seems only fair.

music, particularly after the recent collapse of the Edinburgh Folk
Festival.
