Boy, I must be immune to this sort of thing! I'm infront of a computer all day...and I haven't had a headache since 1989. Hmmm....I suppose music is not the best cure...?

I tried the pressing your head, for my headache, only to find that the headache I had is at the back of my neck, needing caffeine, and now I have one at the front of my head from pressing on my eye ridges.... grrrr. Can I make it chocolate icecream instead please? See computery help needed for the reason for the original headache!

on an aromatherapy list, they recommended taking 1 drop of lavendar oil and 1 drop of peppermint, rub together and rub into your temples...it relieves headache pain for many but not all people...try a bit on your arm first because peppermint is usually not recommended full strength on the skin, although lavendar is o.k.....use at your own risk. mg

I have a friend who does Swedish massage, and it has worked on one of my headaches, but not the migraneous type. In all her massages at some point she pulls very gently on the head, and oh boy, can you feel the tension in the neck go! Funny that the bone above the eye was mentioned previously: she also one time very gently pulled from there too. And that was on the massage that worked. I went to her last time with a full-blown migraine, and I think I was beyond help, although I found it easier to rest when I got home. (She put some lavender in the massage oil). She works in a dimly lit room with relaxing music playing, and, if she feels it would help, an oil burner. She's going to learn aromatherapy next!

Apart from that, I relax on the bed with story tapes. You can't beat somebody reading you a story when you need to sleep!

Feel on the bony ridge above your eyes: About an inch or so from the upper bridge of the nose is a slight depression in the bone. Press FIRMLY with either the sides or tips of your fingers for 60-90 seconds, (the longer, the better). It gets a little uncomfortable. But it will relieve many "tension" headaches. It's worked for me, but not every time. It's worth a try. It's an accupressure point of some sort. I'm not well versed in this practice, but it does seem to work at times.
Also, a vigorous scalp massage seems to aid in blood flow, reducing some headaches, at least for me. Thanks, BlueJay

When I get headaches I have to recline, not lie down, in a dark room... Your way sounds much more enjoyable, Moonchild!

Soph ... that would quite a site, wouldn't it.

Actually, I meant to say "sisters" and it's not a thought ... it's a memory ...

Its a lovely thought moonchild, but I do wonder at the plumbing down south if the sisterns are swaying along with the guitars.

My cure for a tension headache ... A soft, warm southern day; homemade, hand-cranked peach ice cream, in the shade of the pecan trees; sisterns and I slowly swinging to the sound of a guitar playing on the veranda; the laughing and giggling of nieces and nephews as they run back and forth through the sprinklers; the smell of chicken barbecuing on the grill; daddy looking out over all this and smiling ...
