I used to do "The Gasman Cometh" as part of a set titled " Anyone Who Owns His Own Home, Deserves It!" I included such songs as "The Faucets Are Dripping","Georgie On The Freeway", and "Charley, The Midnight Marauder".
It always got a good reception.

Grab, please please please get those words and post them. I can think of a few people I could crack up with them. And, GMT, I agree about "The Gasman Cometh." Brilliant song.

As my dear old dad used to say, if at first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer.

A favourite of mine is Flanders and Swans
The Gasman Cometh. Not quite DIY I know, or
maybe Ivor Biguns 'Toolbag Ted'.

Cheers

A friend recently did one to the tune of Wild Mountain Thyme, which went something like "Will you go lassie go, will you go and call a plumber?" I'll be seeing her tomorrow, so I could ask for the words if you like.

Grab.

That was Charlie Maguire who wrote "Talking Home Improvement." I have been looking for the words to no avail. It would be a good one to add to DT.

Pete Coe's got a good one. It was in SongSmith One - I thought I knew where a copy was, but I can't lay my hands on it right now. It's about a fella who overdoes the DIY a bit.

Rog, could you not go and lend a hand or will that bring further wrath upon your head?

Who was it that wrote "Talking Home Improvement Blues"? He used to be a regular on Prairie Home Companion. He talked about walking around the house with a hammer holster on each hip, feeling like a sheriff in a Western town.

All right, water heater, this house ain't big enough for the both of us
All right, chimney, draw!

Just sitting here listening to muttering in the next room where DIY plumbing is in progress. Everyonce in a while I am summoned to help. It was to be a quick job (now at 7 hours and counting)and I fear defeat is at hand. Anyone know any DIY related songs that I could learn as the hours pass by????
Roger
