Mbo is right again. He clearly stated that alcohol tastes bad. OK, to him, it does taste bad. How can you argue with someones opinion? Also, thanks to Zinc and Saw Palmetto, I will enter that contest!

Accept each other's opinions? Well, sure, unless those opinions are wrong, like thinking alcohol tastes bad.

Seriously though, alcohol is an acquired taste. When I was in my early teens, my sister offered me five bucks (no small sum in the mid-60's) if I would drink a whole 12 oz. beer. Highly motivated, I tried. About 1/4 to 1/3 of the way through, I gave up in disgust because I couldn't stand the taste.

Later I did acquire the taste. More recently, my taste has evolved to where I like flavorful beers (microbrew ales, etc.) and generally can't stand mass-produced major brand American beer. Bringing us back towards the title of this thread, most of it tastes like....

It tastes bad - ANY alcohol? Now that's a sweeping statement. Now some of it tastes bad, like Tequila, but some of it tastes pretty good, like Benedictine. And some of it's an acquired taste, like Gin or Rum. But to claim that it ALL tastes bad is stretching it a bit.

What the hell kinda' reason is that not to drink? Start smoking, the booze tastes better and you can get into inhaling some fun recreational drugs.....several of them. I think the positive point some people are tryng to make is that Kendall and Mbo both add something important to this site. It is immaterial if they have their discussion here or in some other thread.

I enjoy all the give and take here though I do feel somewhat puzzled at the anger I sometimes see expressed. Still, even that is sometimes a valid response.

Why is it that we should disallow Kendall and Mbo the pleasure of a difference in views, irrespective of age? It's an intellectual challenge that ought to be enjoyed by all. Is it because they don't share the view of P.P.#1? My vote is to let them exercise their intellects and debating skills, secure in the knowledge that they are respectful 'catters, and will remain so when the discussion has concluded.
