Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy's 'Mobile Martina From: Sorcha Date: 11 Oct 00 - 03:17 PM I used to have a Subaru named Lucille (You Picked a Fine Time to Leave Me...) Current is a blue Toyota named John Lee. I don't agree that all cars are female;, most are but what about those huge 4x4 double cab pickups? Mr. had one I called the BigBlackBastard. For years I tried to hire someone to drive it off a cliff. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy's 'Mobile Martina From: Naemanson Date: 11 Oct 00 - 02:15 PM I had a 1967 Mustang Convertable which I named Molly after the heroine of the song "Run, Molly, Run" on one of the Kingston Trio albums. I later had a 1974 Dodge van which I named Little Brown Jug. For some reason I haven't named my last two vehicles.

Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy's 'Mobile Martina From: Mrrzy Date: 11 Oct 00 - 01:43 PM Spaw, where you say: A) All cars are women. B) All cars should have names. C) Names should relate to the car and not the owner. And there is no fear of my ever singing anything tainted by Barbra Streisand to anyone, if I tried I think I would sulk and stall too! So, other than the interesting creep about what people name their important objects or cars, any other Martina songs? Or is that one of those names not famed in song and story?

Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy's 'Mobile Martina From: Morticia Date: 11 Oct 00 - 12:47 PM Mine is called Edna......Edna the Inebriate Car ( after a stage play called Edna the inebriate woman) as she doesn't appear to be able to pass a garage without a top-up. |

For example, the 66 T-Bird in the alley garage is "Queenie".......She's a true garage queen knowing far more about the garage than she does about the road. We have a nice Astro Conversion van named "Lola" as in "What Lola wants, Lola gets"......In the mid-70's I owned (or was owned by) a Jag E-Type known as "Bitch Kitty" and one of my 'Vettes was called "Fuckin' Pig"............Where did you get Martina fer chrissakes? Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy's 'Mobile Martina From: LR Mole Date: 11 Oct 00 - 10:07 AM Second or third Barbra Streisand album has one: "I can see Martina, as a child of three/in the sad seclusion of her nursery..." though were I a car by that name I'd sulk and stall if that were sung to me.All that comes to mind, offhand. |

Subject: Mrrzy's 'Mobile Martina From: Mrrzy Date: 10 Oct 00 - 10:11 PM I had a midlife crisis, or something, and bought a NEW car!!! I still can't believe it. A 2001 (!) Toyota Corolla. She's (I think it's a she, I'm not quite sure yet) black, and is, I'm told, not a Mom car. I've named her Martina, after the tennis player, because she's strong and has a definite masculine side. Which is why I'm reserving judgment on whether she might not, after all, be a he... Anyway, I'm pleased as Punch, and need some Martina songs. I can think of Henry Martin, but I can't think of even any Martine (French) songs... |
