Subject: Let's all do The Conga From: GUEST,Nick Date: 06 Jan 01 - 10:31 AM The Conga and its origins - Can you help ? I am wondering whether you can help me in my research for the origins of the popular party song 'The Conga' ("Let's all do the Conga" etc) performed by revellers in a Conga Line. I am sure that you must have done this at parties too ! but may never have been asked where the melody comes from ? The music collection societies have told me that it is a traditional melody with lots of arrangements registered. I have three questions - what is the original tune ? where did it come from ? and does it have a name ? Any help, pointers or suggestions you can provide would be very much appreciated. Best wishes, Nick Farries nickfarries@msn.com |
