Subject: RE: Help: Five String Acoustic Base From: Jeremiah McCaw Date: 07 Mar 01 - 10:27 PM On an acoustic bass guitar, the 5th string is usually a high 'C' (above the 'G' string) rather than a low 'B' string, such as an electric bass would have. That's because it's very difficult to build an acoustic instrument to handle the tension of the low 'B'. There's probably others, but Martin has the only 5-string acoustic I've seen. |

Subject: Five String Acoustic Base From: Bristol Ted Date: 07 Mar 01 - 03:56 PM I am thinking of buying an acoustic base guitar. I've seen some ads for the 5 string variety and I have no experience of these. Can anyone enlighten me? What are the advantages and disadvantages? All advice taken on board! Cheers Ted |
