"That Was The President And That Was The Man" was written by Phil Ochs right after the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963---not for Abraham Lincoln. He wrote 2 different versions of the song that I recall. Lincoln was mentioned in the song just to show that since memories of Lincoln didn't fade after he was gone, neither would memories of Jon Kennedy. Both of those songs are in my collection I titled Songs Of The Life, Times And Assasination Of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The whole collection pretty much is in the Archive Of Folk Culture at the Library of Congress in Wash D.C.

We had a decent thread here some time ago on songs of J.F.K. and I think I posted this song there--among others.

Abraham Lincoln was actually shot April 14, 1865 (Good Friday) He died at 7:20 am April 15, 1865. My father was born a week to the day before the titanic sunk. A fact that we found quite amusing (when we were out of arms reach.) Hope everyone had a marvelous holiday. Kindest reguards, NEil

I knew about the Ttanic, but I didn't know that Lincoln was assassinated on the same day but 47 years earlier.

There's a man at the Orillia Song Circle who frequently sings "Have You Got Any News Of The Iceberg?". It's a pretty offbeat and amusing take on the Titanic incident.
