I know it's a bit late, 23.15 Cheshire time, is there anywhere to plonk my caravan if I just turn up at Whitby? I know other festivals frown on turning up on the day, but Whitby IS a special place! John

I understand that someone's being rude about the town I established in 1293, and called Kingston upon Hull. If I was still alive I'd give them such a bashing.

This is where you will find Coblers Monday Whitby's Shanty Group. This is a copy of our schedule sent to me as an email from Mick Haywood. I reads:-

Best I can find out up to now is : - Fri 8 - 10pm Endeavour Sat 12noon - 12-20 Community College Common Room 8 PM - 10pm Endeavour ? Sun 3pm - 3 - 20 C. C. Common Room. See you Tomorrow , Mick.

So come along and lend your support (well wash it out and let you have it back later) I don't think that there will be a charge other than for the Beer and a collection in the Endevour. Which for those who don't know is on the East side turn right as you cross the Bridge from the West side of the Harbour.

Yours truly, Tyke, or George Clarke Coblers Monday

Sob! The nasty bank machine laughed at me when I asked it about pennies so I can't make Moor and Coast this year. Please will all Mudcats head to the Tap and Spile and drink large amounts of alcohol on my behalf. However I WILL see a lot of you at the Jug 'cos it's after payday!!!!

You'll love your VW Camper! I'm still missing the use of my 1972 T2 VW Camper. Since the White Van driver ran into the back of me whilst stationary pushing me into the car in front. Still I may spend my whiplash injury compensation resurrecting it. When I get it as it was now over two years ago.

I've been to Whitby in it a few times you may remember it California Dreaming and get on the lip and rip on the side in Bright Yellow. The last time it went to Whitby Folk Week it ended up in the following years programme with Sid Kipper posing for a photograph in front of it. I suppose it was one of the few tasteful things in Whitby that would go with his Kipper Tie.:-)

As for Dogs the two Boarder Collies (Josh and Billy) slept in the front. We Spent the Night in the National Parks Car Park on the Middlesborough Road. First thing in the Mornings drove to Sandsend with someone still in bed asleep. Then I made Breakfasts whilst the Dogs had the time of there lives on the beach with Barbara.

Happy Day's

We're setting off Friday after lunch, as it will take me most of the morning to compose myself after having put the dog into kennels (dog loves it -I'm a complete wreck!). First major outing in the VW campervan - so if anyone passes an orange and white Devon on the Pickering Whitby road - please give us a tow!

George the food tent is where the after hours singing and playing takes place quite often until the wee small hours. It is set away from the main tent area so that the noise isn't too dirruptive. There is always an excellent atmosphere in there. Not sure if they have horse on the menu this year but you never know. :-)

Hi Les and Maggie, As you know I have been shanghaied by Coblers Monday so I should be were they are booked in to perform at The Moor and Coast. I do not know the details as yet but I will post them as soon as possible. From what I can gather the Moor and Coast will be using the Tap and Spill, Endeavour and the Plough on Baxtergate this year. I think the music sessions will be in the Plough. However Coblers Monday have asked to do some concert spots at Whitby Community College. If all is going to plan the Moor and Coast will be running the bar at the Community College. The campsite is I believe in the grounds of the College! I hopefully will be in Whitby from Friday to Tuesday. It would be great for us to get it together for a session I will PM you my Mobile Number and once I find out just what Coblers Monday's commitments are I will leave word at the Tap and Spile.Maybe we should put out some flyers so Other Mudcater's Can meet up as well. What are the rules for singing on the campsite in the early hours should we be allowed out of the pub's at some point?

Maggie and I will be there on Saturday and Sunday. We were suggesting that Mudcatters could set up an informal meet. How about it, Tyke? Could we agree a day, a time and a pub? Or should we just all turn up at the Endeavour and heckle you?

Les

Any moor for the Moor and Coast festival in Whitby, North Yorkshire next weekend (4th to the 6th of May) I think I counted 47 Mudcater's so far. Anyone needing information about the festival can find the web site at http://www.moorandcoast.co.uk The Moor and Coast Festival of music, song, dance and arts. The festival takes place in and around the historic port of Whitby on the North Yorkshire Moors during the 1st weekend in May (4th - 6th May 2001). Concerts, Ceilidhs, Workshops, Dances, Singarounds, Pub Sessions, Family Events, Craft Fair, Ghost Walks, Excellent Campsite, Street Entertainment, Stories

PS. I belive the web site was designed by a certain Mudcater from Hull! Just a week to go!
