Subject: Lyr Add: COYOTES (Bob McDill) From: catspaw49 Date: 06 May 01 - 09:35 PM Could this be it?
COYOTES
Was a cowboy I knew in south Texas,
And he'd tell you a tale of the old days,
Now the longhorns are gone,
Well, he cursed all the roads and the oil men
Then he'd look off some place in the distance,
One morning they searched his adobe, Spaw |

Subject: unusual cowboy song From: BK Date: 06 May 01 - 09:27 PM I know this ain't in the DB; at a cowboy poetry & song meeting last week-end a guy sang a song abt an ol' cowboy that just disappears, being out of synch w/the modern world. the chorus has a part which loosely mimics the night sounds of the coyote, something vaguely like: oohyip, ooh-yip, ooh/odalooh-yip,oh-yipa-hoo/ooh-yip, ooh-yip, ooh/odalooh-yip,oh-yipa-hoo. The rest of the chorus lists various things or people gone from the western scene: Long horns are gone, drovers are gone, comanchees are gone, Outlaws are gone/Geronimo is gone, Sam Bass is gone, the Lion is gone, the Red Wolf is gone.... If anybody knows the Name & Author of this song & where I might find the words, it's the 'Catters.. Thanx, BK |
