Subject: RE: NY terrorism- TV Lone Gunmen 1st episode From: Liz the Squeak Date: 16 Sep 01 - 02:15 AM The Lone Gunmen have their own show?? Dig that Frohike.... small and hairy... yum... Mind you, Byers, tall and hairy..... phroarr ... sorry, digressing. But yes, the plot is a tad too close for comfort. It's all very well TV stations rescheduling or pulling programmes because they incite violence, but who needs them when there are books? I read crime fiction. I could kill people in many ways, some of them undetectable at first examination, I know how many grains of arsenic it takes to kill someone and how it happens. I could do Manitas in in several new and interesting ways, and know what mistakes not to make, because I read it in those books, published in the 1920's..... Doesn't make me a murderer though (well, leastways, not until they find the one under the floorboards....). There is nothing new under the sun. If someone blew up Canary Wharf by setting a load of 'Spaw clones in the basement, feeding them beans and cabbage then giving one of them a lighted cigarette, then I'm sure someone would come up with a book that gave that as the method of clearing acres of ugly steel and concrete, or for mass murdering Yuppies.... actually, Canary Wharf and Yuppies.... anyone got a tin opener?? Subject: RE: NY terrorism- TV Lone Gunmen 1st episode From: Sorcha Date: 16 Sep 01 - 02:06 AM See also Tom Clancy books. Heard today that a CD cover by some some "wierd pop group" was pulled because it showed the towers exploding......too much synchronicity here to suit me.........and a Led Zepplin T shirt creating contreversy because of a Zepplin explosion on it......too much paranoia for me..........I just "want to go home", and now, there is no home to go to........ |

Subject: RE: NY terrorism- TV Lone Gunmen 1st episode From: catspaw49 Date: 16 Sep 01 - 01:50 AM I mentioned a book before Helen...not about the WTC, but about a terrorist group of the same ilk and how much I learned in it. In my case, as the investigation goes on and we see how invisible these people were, more and more of that book strikes home. "The Lion's Game"....Nelson DeMille.......Worth a read. Spaw |

Subject: NY terrorism- TV Lone Gunmen 1st episode From: Helen Date: 16 Sep 01 - 01:38 AM Over a week ago, before the attack on the World Trade Center in NY, the first episode of Chris Carter's (X-Files creator) tv show called The Lone Gunman started on Oz tv. I taped it but just watched it today. This first episode was screened in the U.S. in March this year. It showed control of a commercial passenger aircraft being taken over by computer hacking and being flown so that it would crash into the World Trade Center. Of course, being tv-land, the crash was averted at the last possible minute. This week I have been saying to my friends that the ideas, plans, & manouevres, etc that Hollywood and the tv producers have staged would make excellent research for real-life criminals and terrorists. Now I am thinking that this is too much of a coincidence - too close for comfort. Helen |
