Oh, Simon Paul, I am sorry, and I am nice, most of the time. *smile*

Back when I was a radio advertising salesperson, we would have meetings in which we had to tell our manager how much advertising we thought we were going to be able to sell each month. We went through our lists, client by client, and would say how much and how positive we were of the sale. It got to be a standard joke, when we were not sure at all of a sale from a specific client, to tell our manager that sale was a "possible, for sure, maybe" which really meant it was only a remote possibility but we would try our best to make it happen.

Hope this clears things up a bit.

KAt was referring I think to a line used by a sales manager she knew. Sales managers never want to tell a rep no so they often use those kind of phrases. Personally, I used "To early to tell" a LOT.

Double speak for "Nobody really knows but nobody is willing to admit it"......let's try a little punctuation---"Possible, for sure" (meaning yes, it is possible)

"For sure, maybe"......means the same thing, actually.

Aw, geez, isn't the Amer/English idiom a wonderful thing? We are all "nice" just after feeding time......
