Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: Sarah the flute Date: 17 Jan 02 - 03:45 AM Around here we have a department store called Lester Bowden - very nice bags ... far superior to that lowly supermarket rubbish... I mean these have REAL plastic handles!!! |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: JennieG Date: 17 Jan 02 - 12:56 AM River Island??? That's a clothing-optional resort about 90 minutes drive from here (south-west Sydney Oz) - that's not the bag you mean is it? I do know a bloke who goes there regularly, I could ask him....... Cheers JennieG |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: DonMeixner Date: 16 Jan 02 - 11:40 PM I imagine you can find a gig bag that will fill all your requirements. I have never trusted them to protect anything myself. I agree with Bob, get some go, high end hardshells and worry only when you fly. :-) Don |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: bigchuck Date: 16 Jan 02 - 10:06 PM FWIW, Taylor makes a line of very nice gigbags, attractive, functional, snug-fitting......of course they all say Taylor rather prominently on them. Reunion Blues are probably the best but they are pricey. Sandy |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: Nancy King Date: 16 Jan 02 - 08:24 PM Blue Heron cases are nice -- at least I like mine (not that I do gigs or anything, but it was great to carry my guitar around at the Getaway). Check out what Christine Lavin has to say about them; there's a link to her comments on Blue Heron website (sorry I'm not a blue-clicky person). THREAD CREEP ALERT: If the above sounds a bit disjointed, it's because I'm trying to write and listen to the Mark Russell Comedy show at the same time. He just sang, "Mama Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Taliban..." Cracked me up. OK, back to gigbags. Nancy |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: 53 Date: 16 Jan 02 - 07:42 PM musician's friend, and elderly have a nice line of gigbags in their catalogs. BOB |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: M.Ted Date: 16 Jan 02 - 05:30 PM Well, I caught the reference--am rather inclined to shop at tesco's when one is about. Apparently, their are now a few stateside, in Rhode Island or Connecticut. |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: swirlygirl Date: 16 Jan 02 - 04:30 PM well you should all be bloody better educated then shouldn't you?!! :) xxx |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: Murray MacLeod Date: 16 Jan 02 - 04:28 PM swirly, nobody in the States (except me) will cotton on to your references to tesco's and sainsburys ..........:-) Murray |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: swirlygirl Date: 16 Jan 02 - 04:24 PM or sainsbury's...river island do a nice line though if you're looking for one to co-ordinate with a specific outfit... :) xxx |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: Les from Hull Date: 16 Jan 02 - 04:21 PM You can take off one of the backpack straps on all the bags I've had. I find them useful, though. I ride a bike! |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: 53 Date: 16 Jan 02 - 03:02 PM just get them hardshell cases and that will give them more protection when you have them out on a gig. BOB |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: GUEST,swirlygirl Date: 16 Jan 02 - 11:32 AM i find that tesco bags are the way forward :) xxx |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: Murray MacLeod Date: 16 Jan 02 - 11:01 AM I thought that was pretty damn funny, when I posted the last message, it sat right on top of a thread of Kat's titled "Colorado or Bust" ........ ;-) Murray |
Subject: RE: Help: Gigbag Preferences From: Murray MacLeod Date: 16 Jan 02 - 10:58 AM You need to contact the Colorado Case Company. Your chances of getting anything satisfactory in a local store , meeting all your criteria, are zilch. Murray |
Subject: Gigbag Preferences From: ranman Date: 16 Jan 02 - 10:47 AM I am looking for a new gigbag. I want something sturdy, stylish, functional, and resonably priced. I have two O size Lowdens and can't find a bag that fits well. Dreadnaught bags are the wrong shape to fit snuggly and classical bags are too small. I also do not like the backpack strapping that many of the nicer bags have. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks. |
