Kendall, sorry I arrived so late in this thread, but please let me add my thoughts and prayers to all those you've already collected; I'm glad to hear that it appears the odds are in your favor for recovery. Don't get too caught up in the specific percentages--They're only estimates, and 75% to one doctor might be 85% to the next. Please keep us posted on your progress when you find time.

Well folks, the word is this; I have a date with the surgeon on February 27th. He says there is a 75% chance that I will regain full use of my voice. I hope he is being conservative.

Kendall, right after my transplant I was visited at the hospital by a woman who had gotten a new heart five months earlier. She said, "Do you feel like you're being lifted up on a silver platform of other people's prayers? I do." Well Kendall, you seem to be going into this with the support of a "silver platform" AND some good info on the medical side. If you have to do something like this, you are certainly going about it the right way! Best of good fortune, Kendall.

Also -- I just got an e-mail from a woman in NYC saying that she had successful surgery on her vocal chords. Do you mind if I send her some info from this thread and see if she has anything to add?
