Subject: RE: Bobbie Vinton Compleat Lyrics Anthology From: Little Hawk Date: 10 Mar 02 - 12:53 PM What I don't get is this... I posted this thread in the fond hope that it would generate no responses whatsoever (I'm in a competition with Greg Stephens for "most boring thread of all time). Fat chance. You demented wankers couldn't stay away from it. Then I launched an entirely serious thread about the current movie "The Time Machine", and no one has posted to it. No one! Are you people nuts? The LJC virus seems to be kicking in and out...it's unpredictable, but thanks for the info LEJ! :-) - LH |

Subject: RE: Bobbie Vinton Compleat Lyrics Anthology From: Lonesome EJ Date: 09 Mar 02 - 03:31 PM LH, you and ljc have the virus known as pictspeak.exe. This virus activates html functions in Microsoft Word to generate Scots dialect spontaneously. It usually arrives as an e-mail attachment with subject nivver shall the Divil get a rooten hond on ye! or Roon doon tuh Mockinsnare and smitten the fiery hoor! Some reports that this virus insinuates into text transmissions and can be contracted through chat forums has been repoorted, but nae confirmed. Norton has a virus-removal tool at www.explodingscotsmen.com. I have roon this and believe mah machine is coorently free of it. |

Subject: RE: Bobbie Vinton Compleat Lyrics Anthology From: Mickey191 Date: 09 Mar 02 - 03:20 PM Sharon, It was Wayne Newton. Johnny did not pale. Why should he? I don't know how the guy ever sold a record. |

Subject: RE: Bobbie Vinton Compleat Lyrics Anthology From: Little Hawk Date: 08 Mar 02 - 03:57 PM Sharon - BOTH Wayne Newton and Bobby Vinton are sech giants o' the stage that I wouldna hae the least thocht o' offendin' either o' those braw and rugged lads. Only Bill Shatner stands higher in mah estimation...oh, and Bob Dylan, but that goes wi'oot saeyin'. Ah wisnae born under an oxcart. - LH |

Subject: RE: Bobbie Vinton Compleat Lyrics Anthology From: SharonA Date: 08 Mar 02 - 03:51 PM ...The more I think about it, the more I think it was Wayne Newton who "chatted" with Johnny. But I still wouldn't knock Vinton, lest he send Newton after ya. |

Subject: RE: Bobbie Vinton Compleat Lyrics Anthology From: Little Hawk Date: 08 Mar 02 - 03:48 PM Ye're absolutely richt, Murray! Ah hae naiver seen onything tae match the voracity o' the LJC virus. E'en mah dog disnae understaun whit Ah say noo...not that he ever did in the fairst place...but Ah still think it's the LJC virus at worrk here. Be''er caw the compu'er expairts in wi'oot delay! - LH |

Subject: RE: Bobbie Vinton Compleat Lyrics Anthology From: SharonA Date: 08 Mar 02 - 03:45 PM Yeah, don't knock Bobby Vinton. I watched a TV biography on him that said he's quite the martial-arts expert. They also said he had a little "talk" with Johnny Carson after Johnny made a jokeabout Bobby's music in his monologue; Johnny emerged white-faced and never cracked wise about Bobby Vinton again. |

Subject: RE: Bobbie Vinton Compleat Lyrics Anthology From: Little Hawk Date: 08 Mar 02 - 03:24 PM I wouldnae throw worrds lahke "specious" aroond carelessly, Greg, wi' some of the mair boring thread's ye've foisted yersel upon the hallowed halls o' the Mudcat lately. Bobbie Vinton is oan o' the maist romantic singers o' aw time! All richt, he's nae sae braw as William Shatner, but he wis a major factor in Murray MacCleod's pursuit o' the fair sex, an' that's a testimonial that's nae tae be scorned. Ah spelt it "compleat" because it looks mair complete than "complete" does. Ye dinnae hae tae be a rocket scientist tae see that. Ah'd kill t' git mah hands on an original 45 o' "Blue Velvet"! - LH |

Subject: RE: Bobbie Vinton Compleat Lyrics Anthology From: greg stephens Date: 08 Mar 02 - 02:42 PM Wouldnt catch me contributing to a patently specious thread like this And he cant even spell "complete" propally. |

Subject: RE: Bobbie Vinton Compleat Lyrics Anthology From: Murray MacLeod Date: 08 Mar 02 - 02:29 PM Don't knock Bobby Vinton. The first 45 I ever bought was "Roses are Red", as a present for my then girlfriend. And it was worth every penny .... Murray |
