Subject: RE: Sorcha Dorcha vs. 40 Packaderms! From: Effsee Date: 18 Nov 07 - 09:39 PM Guest Hazel, you might have better luck if you start a new thread asking for this info. I'm unable to help at this time but will have a wee look round to see if I can come up with anything. Is it Irish or Scots Gaelic you're looking for? |

Subject: RE: Sorcha Dorcha vs. 40 Packaderms! From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 12 Mar 02 - 10:43 PM Maybe if they got a chance to hear the pipes they'd like it. After all Elephants are the only animal with a built-in set of uilleann pipes. And it's said they have dances as well. (See Toomai of the Elephants
Incidentally, the Irish word is "eilifint"; but the Scots Gaelic has a better look to it - "ailbhean". That comes from a site I found that tells you how to say elephant in all kinds of languages. Typical of the really useful stuff you can find on the net. (But it doesn't have it in Rom!)

Subject: RE: Sorcha Dorcha vs. 40 Packaderms! From: RichM Date: 12 Mar 02 - 09:30 PM Don't offer to buy an elephant a beer. They love it, and their capacity is awesome...almost as much as an Irishman's... Rich McCarthy |

Subject: RE: Sorcha Dorcha vs. 40 Packaderms! From: catspaw49 Date: 12 Mar 02 - 09:16 PM I think you oughta' be happy you ain't paradin' around behind the elephants. I mean if they stop quick or something, I'd bet an elephant would be really pissed at having a set of Uillean Pipes up it's ass............ Spaw |

Subject: RE: Sorcha Dorcha vs. 40 Packaderms! From: Giac Date: 12 Mar 02 - 07:51 PM Were I to be in Paddy Reilly's bar at that time, I'd be all ears. Love the CD Larry! I just got it yesterday evening and have played it through four times. Beats elephants any day! (Now, now, chill out, I was not advocating striking the poor critters.) ~;o) Mary |

Subject: Sorcha Dorcha vs. 40 Packaderms! From: InOBU Date: 12 Mar 02 - 07:22 PM At the same time as the Ringling Bros. are going to parade their elephants through the streets of New York... Sorcha Dorcha will be playing at Paddy Reilly's Music Bar 519 Second Avenue At 29th Street March 19, 2002 10:00 - 11:30 Lorcan Otway - Uilleann Pipes, Vocals, Whistle, Bodhran Bob Green - Vocals, Fiddle Leah "The Gamin" Wells - , Vocals, Mandolin, Guitar... SO the question is, who is heavier? (or more entertaining...) We expect all the animal rights crowd to show their disgust at the oppression of packaderms by attending our gig... Larry |
