Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Firecat Date: 10 Apr 02 - 02:24 PM Well, I think you will be glad to know I arived home safely. I docked in Dover at 8:15am, and got back to Selby at 3pm. GUEST, I think that you should be aware that I am used to critical publics, so therefore I would not be bothered! You should be though!!!!!!! Thanks to everyone who posted while I was in furrin climes. Due to the fact that I never ring home when I'm abroad, it kept me in touch! Thank you! |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Tig Date: 09 Apr 02 - 11:54 AM We assume she's now on her way back, having not heard any dread news to the contary. They were due to leave Krakow after breakfast this morning and will return to Selby (all being well) at about 3o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Last year they got home a couple of hours early having managed an earlier ferry, but we've been told they will be expected to ring us for one of the services to let us know. I'm looking forward to hearing the other parts of the trip..... |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: MMario Date: 09 Apr 02 - 08:59 AM just chiming in to say that *I* for one enjoy reading the adventure thread - just as I enjoyed being able to log in when I was traveling and find out what was going on with other mudcatters while I was on the road.

Well done you for going on this trip and taking the time out to report back to us. Yes, it is interesting reading, and yes there are people here that care for your. Have a safe journey back. Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Mrs.Duck Date: 08 Apr 02 - 12:48 PM Guest as you ought to know PMs are only available to members. As Firecat is using the internet cafe she has no cookie there and therefore even if she wanted she could not use that method. Anyway we, her friends, want to hear what she's up to and if you don't then go and annoy someone else! |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: The Walrus at work Date: 08 Apr 02 - 09:01 AM Apologies for the double post, I got a "failed" message and re-wrote bits. I should have known both would turn up. Walrus |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: The Walrus at work Date: 08 Apr 02 - 08:59 AM Firecat, As you are in Krakow, have you heard the "Alarm call" at the Cathedral? As I understand it they've been playing regularly since Fifteen Hundred and Frozen to Death (something to do with stopping the Turks). I've never been to Poland myself (more's the pity) so all accounts are hearsay. Enjoy your trip (And watch out for the "White Spirit"- now THAT I have tried). Walrus |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Catherine Jayne Date: 08 Apr 02 - 07:43 AM Look, guest, if a mudcatter goes off on a trip to some far away place then they like to keep in contact with the people back home who care about them. It's a bit difficult to send a pm to a whole lot of people as there are on mudcat..........and people are actually INTERESTED in what other catters get up.........if u don't want to read stuff like this then don't come on the thread....it's your decision.....so just lay off....and keep your snide remarks to yourself for once!! Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: JeZeBeL Date: 07 Apr 02 - 03:10 PM Excuse me "guest" who refuses to name themselves, but if you are too s**t scared to write your name or post under your mudcat name then how dare you even think about insulting one of my best, dearest and closest friends. I'll give you a bit of info, as I hate people who judge before they have all the facts..... 1) Firecat was not 18 until January...this year....when she had her first drink.... 2) She didn't even find out she enjoyed alcohol until she came to stay with me and catsPHiddle, and we took her out to a pub/night club and introduced her to WKD Blue So, how dare you accuse her of being "hung over" when the last time she had a drink was at the age of 14 |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Tig Date: 07 Apr 02 - 08:16 AM Those of you who know Firecat will understand how rarely she drinks incofrol, in fact at one point I was wondering if she actually WAS my daughter or a changling!! It's good to hear she's behaving more like someone her age - and I trust her to keep it within limits. To the Guest who posted that her 'troubles' last year were probably due to a hangover I suggest he checks out the threads 'Exploration' and 'The Adventures of Firecat' from last April. He may find he owes her an apology!! (At that time she NEVER touched alcohol after an early bad experience). Hope you find things to keep you busy whist you are on your own today. How's the Pebble Hunt doing? Love & extra hugs, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: GUEST,Firecat in Krakow Date: 07 Apr 02 - 07:07 AM Oi, Guest! That's not fair!! The others are all at Auschwitz now. They set off at about 9 this morning and should be back about 4 or 5 ish. Noreen, Terezin was horrible. Even though it was only a holding camp before the unlucky ones were sent to other camps, in the years it was in operation about 100,000 people died there. I'm currently in the Internet cafe Looz about two streets away from the hotel. One of my friends tried chatting up the barmaid in Polish yesterday. Didn't get very far though. Mind you, he was drunk and was saying things like "Please don't give me an anaesthetic!" The worst one was when he asked if there was a gay bar anywhere near!!!!! My friends Matthew and Gareth are really surprised at me cos I stayed up until they went to bed last night! Gareth actually said he would've thought I'd be in bed by that point (1am!), so this trip's working wonders for my reputation!! Haha! Mum, yes I have checked Talk21 but I never got round to answering cos the computer started playing silly divils! I'm going back on that now. More either tomorrow or when I'm back in Britain (Wednesday afternoon). Byee! |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Tig Date: 05 Apr 02 - 03:54 PM Are we talking one generation or two oh venerable father? Noreen, Terezin is the site of a German concentration camp for Czech dissidents and Jews about 40 miles north of Prague. Put Terezin in your search engine and it will come up. After the problems FC had with the concentration camp last year we've said she can miss out on going around Auschwitz-Birkenau on Sunday and stay in the town instead. |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: GUEST,ancient grandperson Date: 05 Apr 02 - 01:10 PM Have been reading your adventure. I really do not want to believe that this is the little girl I dangled on my knee! Though come to think there might be something in heredity :-)). Luv n' stuff. Lots of love'n'hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: GUEST,Firecat in Prague Date: 05 Apr 02 - 09:26 AM Well, I survived Terezin. Hated it, mind you, but I made it all the way round! I am really proud of myself! I went clubbing last night and ended up pulling (attracting) two guys!! I didn't snog either of them though! One was a rugby player from Wath (as in the Yorkshire one!) and the other was a drunken Italian. I was on the water at this point. I've just been bowling with a mate, and I'm challenging the rest of them (the lot that dragged me clubbing) to a game when they wake up! I hope the hotel in Krakow has an Internet connection, cos we're heading off there at 8:30am tomorrow morning! UGH!! Oh well, more (hopefully) from me tomorrow. Byee! |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Pseudolus Date: 04 Apr 02 - 10:56 AM Hmmmmmmmmm.....Pilsner Urquell.....love that stuff, suprised you didn't like it Firecat! Of course I've had the stuff they're willing to export to the US. Most likely different than what you get in Prague.... Either way, enjoy the rest of your trip! Frank |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: GUEST,Firecat in Prague Date: 04 Apr 02 - 10:43 AM Well, I'm not QUITE as drunk as I was yesterday! Mind you, I've only just got back from the city, so I'm not even changed into my posh stuff yet! I've been told that I'm off clubbing tonight!! Micca, that was the beer i tried and I'm glad I only got a small one cos I didn't like it! Sorry! It seems to be the drink of choice for the male members of the party though. I'll stick to Pina Coladas thanks!! It was actually really interesting last night! I'll tell you more tomorrow, cos I'm gonna go get changed, get some food and then meet up with Gareth etc. More tomorrow! Byee! |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Benjamin Date: 03 Apr 02 - 04:59 PM Glad to hear your enjoying it. If you really want to move in on a waiter, guys don't think straight when drunk!Don't tell anybody I told you that! You also didn't answer my question. I feel so ignored! I would also recomend that you not try the beer. Strong alcohol is much better, stick with that! You'll be very happy! |
|
Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 03 Apr 02 - 02:44 PM And they should try the real Budweiser beer they make in the Czech Republic. No resemblance to the American stuff with the same name, apart from the colour. The Czech original is GOOD.
And Czech out the bendy buses and the brilliant Metro trains.
They are both absolutely magic cities. |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Tig Date: 03 Apr 02 - 02:25 PM Since it's going to cost a LOT of money if they put you on a plane home at my expense for being drunk and unruly PLEASE limit your alcoholic consumption!!!! I should leave buying pebbles until you've had a scrounge round the markets - and are prepared to do some haggling. I'm looking forward to further info. By the way, WE knew you would want your cossie when we checked out the website for the hotel just after you left. Love'n'hugs. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: MMario Date: 03 Apr 02 - 01:54 PM Why does this sound like the phone call I had from my niece last week? Which BTW went something like this: "Hi! I just called to tell you I'm at Lindy's with my friend and we just shared a piece of cheesecake and a coffee. We wanted to get dinner and a beer but we couldn't afford it. We have the best waiter in the world - so say hi to him before he goes on break"(handed phone to waiter!) Can you imagine working in a restaraunt and having a customer hand you a phone and telling you "say Hi to my Uncle"?

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: GUEST,Firecat in Prague Date: 03 Apr 02 - 01:36 PM Of course I didn't bother to pack you, Mum!! You wouldn't fit!! You helped with the case yourself!!!!!!!! Anyway, on with the update! We arrived at the very posh Hotel Duo today after a bit of a wait about passports at the checkpoint (no puns on THAT please, Mr Red!!). Mind you, when I say a bit of a wait I mean about an hour! It's OK though. I experienced Prague's fine hotel cooking (v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v.v. large portions!). We've got loads of facilities here! We've got a pool (but I didn't think I'd need my cossie!) a gym, a sauna, a solarium, a bar (I've actually drunk ALCOHOL!! I didn't think much of the beers though, Micca!), an Internet cafe (obviously), three or four different restaurants,a nightclub, which some people are intending taking me to sometime (!) and loads of other things!! Ooh, and my friend Becky who's with me just reminded me about the shopping, so you WILL get your amber Mum! It's also got selenite and haematite, to name just a couple! Sorry if I spelt those wrong, but I've had more than usual! The alcohol over here is actually a lot stronger (and cheaper, adds Becky!) than I expected! I don't mind those, cos there's loads of cute waiters! Heh heh! We're going on a walk tomorrow (I think) but Becky has just informed me we have to be out by 10! Anyway, another instalment tomorrow, when I'm hopefully a bit more sober, even though I'm not ratted (yet!)! Byee! |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Tig Date: 02 Apr 02 - 04:54 PM I usually use a 12 hour clock but not being sure of the time differences I just took the timings from the info she'd left with us. She refused to pack me in the extra space in her case! |
|
Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Benjamin Date: 02 Apr 02 - 04:35 PM Yes Noreen. The 24 hour clock, often refered to (at least in this part of the world) as military time. |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Noreen Date: 02 Apr 02 - 03:58 PM What's military time, Benjamin? Do you mean the 24 hour clock? It's used a lot in the UK for accuracy, when writing, and in timetables etc. Have a lovely time, Firecat. I want to go back to Prague, a fascinating and beautiful place. Noreen |

Subject: RE: The New Adventures of Firecat From: Benjamin Date: 02 Apr 02 - 03:23 PM I look foward to hearing these stroies. I've never been to Prague and/or Krakow. I just might make it one of these days though. Tig, just curious, but do you prefer to go by military time? Does Firecat prefer military time as well? |
