If they are dancing - roll up the floor.

If they are kissing - whisk them out the door.

Until proven otherwise, I approach all GUEST posts as coming from the same individual. If the post is negative - it's negative - if not, it's not.

I don't know much about the inner workings of the internet, but could there not be a way to limit the number of times one can "GUEST" to, say, three, and then ban them if they do not join?
This would at least let the regulars know which GUEST they were responding to.
Just a thought.

'Tis an interesting connundrum Celtic Soul.

I haven't been around the Mudcat much lately (when you spend 40 hours or so on the 'net for work, even the Mudcat pales in comparison to the great outdoors), but it's funny to see that the Trolls continue to be, effectively, in charge of the threads.

Reminds me of the "you get more flies with honey than vinegar" quote - but frankly, shit works even better and then again, who in the hell wants flies anyway?

If you don't like 'em - ignore them. If you can't handle their being here - oh well, things aren't going to change - maybe you should just leave yourself. The trolls don't bother me and I'd love to see them try to bother me.

Go ahead, just try.

Celtic Soul says"Dear Joe and Max sorry for duplicating a thread title.." no your not or you wouldn't have started it up!! Here's a quote from your breakaway posting Celtic Soul at How to treat guests#1 "Many times, the thing with which we take the greatest issue is the thing of which we are ourselves most guilty." Lilke trolling man.. see you people are your own worst enemy. Attention seeking ,getting around the queue of threads.. STARTING A NEW ONE. I bet you used to drop your mates in it at school eh? You know, behind their backs to the teachers. A goodie were you?

T.T.

Good advice, little hawk. However, when there's an asshole at a party, I like to tune them out by leaving the room their in, and going another where I can freely chat with people who are acting more sane. Again, if it were something each of us could choose to do or not to do, then your time here could be spent as you like, and mine as I like. Yes, it does get a spit confusing when you can see a response to a post you never read, but that's a frustration I am personally willing to put up with.

Again, to each their own. :D

Ah...there will always be annoying things in life...that's life.

I say, treat GUESTS as we treat other members...with courtesy, reason, and respect...and if they're unreachable that way...with humour...or...just ignore them. Whichever way seems to work best for you.

Dear Joe and Max...sorry for duplicating a thread title, but I wanted to pose a thought and didn't want it lost under so many other posts.

Something occured to me from my days of dealing with flamers and trolls on usenet.

Is it possible to add a filter? If it were, then anyone could simply put those they would rather not read in the kill file, and motor on their way without the nuisance.

If it were an optional thing each individual could choose to do or not, as they wished, then it isn't censorship (except on the part of the person doing the censoring).

Seems ideal from my vantage point.
